The post-game is pretty awful imo, it's a massive grind before you can even start it but there is basically no fun way of grinding.

Yeah I think I tried one master trianer (othe rthen the Mew one) and got soundly beat and then couldn’t be bothered grinding them up. Hopefully gen 8 has a much better post game.

Just restarted this. I had nothing I really wanted to keep on the game, so it was an easy decision. Level 10 on all 'mon before delivering the parcel to the lab. And now to set out on a new Kanto journey with my team of Bellsprout. And assorted birds.

Tempting to start afresh with my progress, but not too sure yet.

I’m waiting for Let’s Go Silver/Gold one day. :datass:

After nearly 20 years, I'm once again champion :toot:

Image

I used the same team that I used for my main team when playing Red. My started was always Charmander and I would add Pidgey, Magikarp and Geodude before leaving Mt. Moon. Countless Poké balls were always lost trying to catch an Abra on route 24 and Oddish would join just before Vermillion City to finish off my team. From there, they would all grow to their final forms except for Gravellar and Kadabra who needed to be traded. I never got around to trading them in Let's Go either but I'm glad that they didn't evolve so that the team is just like it was in 1999 :toot:

I'm actaully quite impressed that I managed to complete two thirds of the Pokédex on my main playthrough. I forgot to go to the Power Plant before beating the Elite Four so I'll save that for later on when I return to fill up the rest of the Pokédex and take on Mewtwo.

Let's Go, Gold and Silver! :toot:

Lavender Town music has never been as good as in the original games. If that is the music you speak of.

And done! Time it took me was 33:24, all badges, Mewtwo, Pokemon Champ etc, and wiped the floor with Green, Blue and Red Masters basically using a level 100 Pikachu (Party consisted of Pikachu lvl 100, Mewtwo lvl 100, Venusaur lvl 95, Zapdos lvl 83, Articuno lvl 100 and Graveler lvl 100)

Well of course not but what could compare to the music that made all those Japanese kids kill themselves and they had to change the music.

Swear on my life.

Almost a week since I finished and I sort of miss the grind and playing this

Anyone want to swap their Eevee edition for a Pikachu edition :shifty:

I somehow think the League is impossible with my current team, and there's very little in the way of grinding opportunities available when it's so reliant on needing money for balls. I might seriously have to consider breaking the rules of the run, which is something I really don't want to be doing this close to the end.

Sludge Bomb can erode in its own poisonous gases.

I’m kind of half tempted to buy the Eevee edition just so I can play it again :shifty:

What’s your current team? Take it you’ve gone for a monotype or something if you’re struggling that much with the league?

Victreebel, Weepinbell, Weepinbell, Pidgeot, Fearow, Farfetch'd.

Loreli is kind of easy, since the Victreebel can wipe things easily with it's high base attack and a Poison Jab or Power Whip. The birds are usually able to strike first and take most things out in two or three hits. The ice type moves are a pain to deal with, but I can at least heal up and revive with little problem. With Agatha and her poison types, not only is Sludge Bomb taking more than half health from any of my 'mon, they also can usually strike first, so any set-ups I'm trying with Sky Strike or Solarbeam can never work.

If I was able to get all of them to Lv:60, I'm confident the problem would be lessened enough that I can overcome the challenge. But because level grinding is tied to catching in the wild, and needing the money to be prepared with revives and Full Restores, the only option is repeating the cycle of battling those Elite Four members I can. Which doesn't work because not all of my 'mon can survive that first battle.

Well a good way to boost exp gained is to cheat the game a little. I found out (as I was interested how the 2 player mode worked) that if you use both joycons to catch a Pokémon then you get a good chunk more exp from the battle. Obviously won’t help with the money side of things (although isn’t there NPCs in the overworld that give you more Poke balls if you’re running low?) but might help boost you levels a little.

I can’t remember how much extra exp I got by doing this (only did it for a handful of captures around rock tunnel) but it might be worth a shot.

I've used all that money on Ultra Balls; going on the grind for as long as they last. Well, them and every other ball bar the Master that I have. Hopefully that gets the levels near 60.

Keep in mind doing the 2 player catch xp trick will use up twice as many balls. I used the same trick to get my main party all to Lv 100. The highest XP I got from 1 capture (obviously a crazy high combo number) was 60,000 exp

I just presumed it still only used 1, still a good way to grind out levels!
