I'm looking forward to learning more and maybe even engaging in some jolly co-operation :toot:

If only I could be so grossly incandescent

Yeah that's what it looked like to me too in that bit with the cave. I've been wanting them to do this for years in the main series and do away with random battles completely ever since Dragon Quest IX did something similar with encounters.

This looks boring.

It's certainly an unambitious concept. "People liked Go, people are nostalgic for the old games, so what if we Go-ified the only old game we haven't remade in a while!" But I think the tech they've developed for the visuals will really shine in a proper new game (the actual world, and the Pokemon, and the battles all look gorgeous!), so to be fair it's not all doom and gloom.

TBH I love classic Pokemon and I have a perpetual replay of Red going that I return to occasionally (I just restart whenever I'm done...) so I will definitely play it. So while my head is a bit disappointed I think my heart knows I'll still have a lot of fun with it.

Definition of "mixed feelings" for me I guess!

The only battles you can have are against NPC's. When you encounter a Pokémon in the wild it ends up being like Pokémon Go where you have to try and catch it but you can't battle it to make it easier to catch.

This just makes me want a full-on remake of Yellow or Crystal in that engine.

I really want that Pokeball controller. I know it's just nostalgia, but I would have lost my mind if that was released when I was a kid.

I would have preferred for them to be more ambitious with how it remade Kanto, but I didn't replay the VC version of Yellow so this will nicely scratch that itch.

Looks great to me, really pleased with this announcement.

I desperately wanted it to be set in Kanto and with the original 151 Pokemon because that will always be Pokémon for me, never had the same attachment to the other areas and other generations of Pokémon.

Not bothered at all that the wild Pokémon catching has had the battling element removed, it's probably one of the most grindy and tedious aspects of the original games in my opinion. Being able to see the Pokémon in the overworld and avoid them if you want is also an added bonus.

Battles and Levelling still seem to be intact and I'm assuming gym battles and the elite four will also be present to give travelling around the map some purpose. Graphics are nice, relatively basic but pretty and functional, wouldn't surprise me if they're not based on the engine used for Sun/Moon.

Hopefully the next mainline RPG is a bit more ambitious and give us something with a bigger scale but this is a great start and I think it will be a huge success for Nintendo.

I hope a lot of the lore stuff remains intact (Cubone stuff for example) also hoping for day/night cycles and maybe even weather effects.

I think I will pick this up, been wanting to get back into Pokemon for awhile now

Gonna be honest, even with lowered expectations I still felt pretty underwhelmed. Not sure if this is for me. That said the only thing this needs to sell me is if you can ride on an Arcanine or not >,>

I think a lot of people will feel the same re the Poké ball controller, as a kid I'd have gone crazy over that. What am I saying I probably still will now! :D I'm not the only one I know who's planning on getting one though to live out a childhood dream!

Its basically my first Pokemon game for newbies, but I must admit it does look really nice and while a lot of the core mechanics will be dumb down for this release still looks better than most Pokemon spin-offs.

Has anyone seen if we'll actually be able to catch all 151 without the need for trading? I'd quite like it if that was the case, maybe you have to catch 150 before Mew turns up somewhere (or maybe like Suicune in Crystal where you find it in various locations before finally battling it) in Kanto.

I just thought it'd make a nice change to actually be able to catch them all without the need for trading.

Motion controls mandatory for catching Pokemon

You'll need to use motion controls to catch Pokémon in Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, regardless of whether or not your Switch is docked, and they're compulsory throughout.

I can’t help but feel the bigger news there is:

In other news, The Pokémon Company has confirmed the region of Johto will not be a bonus feature in the game (as it was back in Gold and Silver).

Everything so far has suggested they’re being extremely faithful to the original map. Not sure if that’s going to be too small with modern gaming standards and I had wondered if the game was going to feature Johto too to bulk it up.
