You get giving pokeballs for free if you run out

As I already said before, I bought as many Ultra Balls as I could and grinded until I ran out of all in my bag bar the Master. Once the last hit Lv:60, I then challenged the Elite Four again. Victreebel wiped half of everyone's teams, and I hardly had to use revives until I hit the Champion. The one time I used Farfetch'd it got one hit by a Rapidash using Flare Blitz.

Needing money to buy balls is only one of my problems with the grind. The other and more important one being that it's so completely random. But I guess with reinvented systems comes a reinvented grind, as I've seen plenty of times in videos and guides. And here. I still hold Let's Go as a great game, but I'm definitely a traditionalist when it comes to the grind.

After all, I remember one game where for a second run I stayed within the confines of the first area levelling up my starter until it evolved to its first stage - before the rival fight.

Argh, I only need a Grimer now for a full dex, excl Mew.

I transferred across my Meltan from Go too, he was a stubborn little strawberry float to catch.

The only shiny I got in my entire playthrough was a shiny Metapod, caught in Viridian Forest.

One thing I'll say for Pokemon is that it's ability to make me feel like my time has been barely spent is incredible. As I said, I'm a Grimer away from completing the Dex and getting the Shiny Charm, and I just did my first Master battle, and so in my head, this is the point the 'real' game begins in terms of team building and EV training etc.

But I'm 40 hours in!

I can't think of another game where being 40 hours in marks the start of the real game. I know I put about 150 hours into the original Blue, and the only other game I came close to putting in was X, which was about 130, and I can imagine this being the same. There's also no two ways about it, the 40 hours I put into this are a lot more... efficient than the 150 I put into Blue. The lack of grinding and ease of collecting (especially when joined up with Go) means that it's been 40 hours of fun rather than endless, endless, ENDLESS bait and switching of the Elite 4 in Blue.

Love it.

I ended on just over 40 hours, think the dex ended on 126 as well, I think if I’d played Go over the years I’d have certainly completed the dex, levelling is for the master battles hasn’t tempted me back to it though, I’m really hoping Sword and Shield have a better post game.

Considering how dire the post-game is in Let's Go I'm not sure you can say that the REAL GAME starts 40 hours in :slol:

First bit of proper shiny hunting and got a shiny Ponyta after only a 33 chain with no shiny charm!

I’m shiny hunting for a Chansey, and I’m having the most ridiculous luck. No shiny yet, but I swear on this 50 something chain, not one has broken out the ball. I even hit the fabled 33k exp from one catch, and that without the sync bonus. Last couple of Chansey attempts I’ve fled after a second breakout, resulting in fleeing from every 3/4 Chansey, but literally not one breakout in a 50 chain.

Daaaaamn.

EDIT; 49.5k off one catch!

I’m so close to finishing the dex now, just got one one more moon stone to find and then I’m hopefully getting the Eevee exclusive Pokémon off of a friend and then hopefully getting the trade evo’s at the same time :toot:

I’m currently just chaining now to get candy so I can beat 6 master trainers to face Red, I’ve only beaten the Pikachu trainer so far. Going to need the candy to make them a little easier and it beats grinding the elite 4 for not much exp when you’re higher levels.

Once I’ve beaten 6 trainers and beaten Red I think I might actually start a new profile just so I can play this again, in a slightly different manner though.... pick a team early on and then catch loads of said Pokémon so I can fully boost their stats as soon as possible, hopefully find shiny ones and wreck everyone in game :)

I've picked this up as the shiny hunting method looked like something fun to play with when you might not want to be giving a game your full attention. My intention was to run through it, get the shiny charm and then hunt, but could not resist going for a shiny Growlithe during my playthrough. Got a chain up to 31 and then just watched them spawn/despawn. I didn't really keep track of time or numbers, but it was probably an hour or so before getting the shiny! At that point I noticed I had a few Growlithe candy, so looked up how that worked. Seems kind of mad how rare the species candy is, even compared to going for a shiny. Ended up going to a chain of 170 before hitting 200 candy. While doing this, a shiny Ratticate popped up and I had to leave it, as working up my current chain of Growlithes was a lot more time consuming than going for a new chain of 31 Ratticates, but still such a weird feeling to be like nope, I'm letting that shiny go.

My Pikachu is now stupidly over-leveled too.

If you feed them the maximum amount of candy it becomes quite broken from what I remember! Never did get around to starting a fresh save on this.

Yeah, I don't think I'll bother too much with it as I don't really do online battles and I'm not particularly bothered about the Master Trainers either. I have all the LGE exclusives and the trade evolutions in Pokemon Go ready to transfer over, so really going to try and focus on just getting to the end and grabbing that shiny charm as quick as I can, and then dipping back in now and then for shiny hunts.
