I suck at cash too, still haven't been able to get back to $0 for the month after my massive downswing at the start:

I'm 47 buyins down for the year at 10NL and despite the fact my EV adjusted puts me 34 buyins better off, I'm still much worse at cash than you. Any advice anyone?

Well general advice is pretty obvious, just play tight and isolate the weak players and bet for value. I'm finding that most players aren't bluffing so be prepared to lay down hands if you get played back at.

At 25NL table selection can be quite important and so it wouldn't surprise me if that was the same at 10NL. Even though most tables have a couple of weak players, some players are easier to get the chips off than others, so after a couple of orbits if you're not loving the table then leave and try a different one. Also if you find someone who is a goldmine and just chucking money away then search their name and see if they are playing at any other tables and join them if they are.

Pretty much a couple of the guidelines I'm operating with anyway, but thanks for confirming a couple of points Sat and Ecno. :)

Pretty standard cash session again today. Very slowly build up a nice $80 profit then proceed to lose it all within the space of 5 minutes due to: donk calling my 4bet with 46 and flopping two pair, AK < AQ all-in pre, raising very large pre with 99 and flop comes 967 but other guy was playing 85o. :x

Still up $20 today, but could have been a lot better.

I'm guessing you lost, but I don't think I ever fold there. Pot is $12.70 and it is $3.40 to call, so you only need to win about 20% of the time to make the call profitable. I'm not sure if he's playing that river like that with AT, 2-pair, 22, or a bluff 20% of the time but I don't see how it can be too wrong to call.

Call?! You had a set, he has top pair lol.

Srsly though. Odds so good vs random 10nl player. Why do you bet so small btw? If they are calling that bet they are probs calling more as well. They don't really care for bet sizing. Just bet 2/3-3/4 all the time. (Unless you insane pot control your draws vs total donks obv).

I did call, I was just wondering as the river check-raise really threw me off, it's not something I've seen many people do full stop, let alone at 10NL.

I bet small as I felt the majority of his range of the river was relatively weak and was hoping to get looked up by something like top pair fwiw.

A quick tip which you probably already know but I only just discovered a couple of days ago, you can configure the bet slider options on Stars. I have it set so I have buttons for 50% and 75% of pot, and generally if I'm value betting then i'll just click 75%. Even if you are bluffing and make a bet 75% of the pot, it only has to work 42% of the time so it's fine to do in the right spots.

Erm, I think you put Tony Hachem under notables on accident there. No worries you can just edit that right out.

If there is 5,000 in the pot including blinds, and someone shoves for 4,000 - matehmatically what odds do you need on your hand to profitably call?

So with the shove pot is 9000 and it costs you 4000 to call.
4000/(9000+4000)= 30.8%

You can also do it this way:

Pot is 9000 and 4000 to call, so pot odds are 9:4 or 2.25:1
as a percentage that is 1/(2.25+1) = 30.8%
