The truth? Cash isn't a sit and go, son. The regular speed games have it about right, there is enough scope to play before everyone decides to get their stack in (except the guys who think it's great to make a 75x raise in the first level), plus there's more variance in the turbos because of their shovey dovey nature. Disagree if you like but I don't see any advantage to playing turbo games as opposed to the norm. You get a greater volume in with but with greater variance per game.

I never said cash was a sit-n-go I used to prefer the standard ones, as well, but seeing as you have to be super tight to succeed at low-level SnGs anyway, there isn't a huge amount of difference between them and normal ones, for me. A little more variance, yeah, but still consistant when you stick in volume, and very easy to beat. You do have to be a little more aggressive though, which isn't for everyone.

When I want to play 'proper' poker, I'll go and play cash. That's all I said, really.

I don't understand. I said that I dislike turbos because of the lack of time you get to play post flop. This doesn't mean I want to play post-flop 100% of the time ala cash as you mentioned, but that I appreciate the extra time afforded in the standard variant structure which I do like. Deep stacked tournaments are awesome for sure.

As far as I can see, playing turbos is the best education you can have in the flow of the game, because when you're put in a spot in a deepstack tournament you are more likely to know what you have to do.

I've got no idea what the hell any of you are trying to get across and I can't be arsed to reread the past two pages.

It'll make no difference in the long run whether you play turbo or non-turbo, provided you put a good amount of volume in.

Ah yes, we've gotten our wires crossed

I used to prefer normal speed, but for now I think I'll stick to the $6.50 turbos, the rake is a little less and if I put the volume in I think it equals a little more profit in the long run, just because of that.

In tournaments I still prefer normal speed/deepstack though.

Didn't even play it well.

Just got knocked out of the 1st round of HU SCOOP

It was a good match and the opponent was pretty decent. I looked up his stats on sharkscope and while I can't see his ROI it rates him 94/100 and his average stake is $45.

I lost a few chips when I saw a nine high flop with 89s and bet it, I think the other guy must have flopped a set as he went all-in on the river and I had to fold. After that I managed to double up when I flopped two pair with 67 and made a FH on the turn. I checked the flop and turn and then bet the river and got 3bet all-in as he'd rivered a flush

After that I got him all-in on a K72 flop with KT v his K3 but he also had a flush draw and so I was only slight favourite, but he hit his flush and I was out chipped 3-1 after that. I lasted a long time but wasn't hitting any flops and couldn't build my stack back up. We were basically at stalemate until the blinds increased and I had to start shoving. After being dealt 62o, 23o, 42o, 53o practically every hand I pushed with J9 and he had AK. He flopped two pair but the jack on the turn gave me 2 outs. River was a 9 to give me a worse two pair.

It was good though, I've always admitted that my HU games isn't good but I do enjoy playing it so I'll have to get some practice in some time.

Yeah the turbo's may give you a slightly lower ROI as you aren't seeing as many hands and so sometimes you will not see any decent cards, but the lower rake cancels that out and your hourly will be much more as you able to put in twice the volume.

Having just played the HU tournament I think that is a much purer form of poker than SNGs and has lots of the post flop play that Drummy is after

I get him short, and get him to shove KQ into my QQ. River K.

Then I get him short again, get him to shove with A6 into my QQ. Trip 6s on the flop.

Then I have a chance to double to a good stack, getting him to shove with Q9 into my K9, flop Q.

ul, I saw the QQ < KQ hand, that was bad

I had a go at a hyper turbo HU tournament
I somehow won the first two rounds and then got knocked out with K9s < 22 just before reaching the cash.

Definitely. How many chips would we get though? The 5k in yesterdays was perfect, but I don't think it's easy to get that online.

I'd be up for one as long as it was towards the end of the month - have to prove I'm the HU Machine.

It lasts 2 weeks so the Main Event is on Sunday 16th.

Bleh. It's just the worst timing ever! I was dying to play in a lot more of the SCOOP events this year, but I'm not going to be able to even try for the main event, as I'm either writing essays or in Denmark until the 17th

I've played in all of the NL events so far. Cashed in the $11 freezeout the other day but only got $18 so it really wasn't worth the 5hrs of play

Might try satellite next week for the ME
