Just lost playing cash. I know everyone in the world of poker says this but I'm getting so strawberry floating unlucky it's a piss take. I can't even use the EV chart to make me feel better because people keep hitting their ridiculous 2-4 outers on the River because I manage to complete my trap of snaring them in for all they've got :x! I just ran Queens into Aces so thought strawberry float this and closed all the tables. From up 2 buy-ins to down 3 buy-ins.

I might just have to consider the fact that I'm not good enough. Thing is, I didn't get bumfucked in the first two sessions like I have in the last few and I ended up doing so well... I dunno.

I would but I don't feel like I can beat $10 with any consistency.

In WSOP related news, Phil Hellmuth is lying in 5th place with 25 remaining in Event #8: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em.

Would you guys say one of the core skills for a beginner is knowing when not to play a hand?
I to often look at a hand and see possibilities all over the shop but afterwards you realise you were still expecting far to much.

Won £30 in an epic game at a mate's house last night.

After initial bad beats I went into desperation tilt mode for 2 hands then pulled myself together and finished the game off with a remarkable straight on the river.

It's not like jumping up to play $100 games. You'd be fine so stop saying you can't beat it until you've tried.

Yeah hand selection is generally one of the things everyone has trouble with starting out, either playing too many hands or too few. For the most part I'd recomend a beginner sticks with the best hands and tries to learn how to play them effectively before branching out. It's very difficult to take something like 64 and play it profitably with any consistency for example. Nice big cards and pairs are generally a good starting point.

Massive problem is people thinking suited cards cary lots of value and so play any two suited aka the dazzle factor.

Jamie stop being a big gay and play more hands. I know for a fact you are playing fine, you're just running bad. Way too early to call it a day. if it helps I will rail a bit later?

Drummer stop being an even bigger gay and move up stakes. Stop playing at the buy more when you could easily handle the...... <some better job>

Tony "Bond18" Dunst has written an excellent series of articles entitled Things it took me a while to learn. Well worth a read if you guys have some spare time to do so.

OP'd.

Yeah I think I'm going to concentrate solely on playing $10 games from now on. I'm well rolled for it.

Edit: Part 99

4 handed. I've got ~10bb and in the BB. UTG min-raises and I shove AQ. He snaps with A7 and flops a 7 :x

It's not even bad decision making. I'm getting unlucky and it's annoying. Really putting me off poker.

To be honest it's getting a bit dull now hearing "Oh I am running so bad I got it on good and lost". For me that isn't that run bad at all. I'd be happy I got it in good and move on. If you wish for me to type every time I get it in ahead and lose here we'd have a very boring topic. If people are going to talk about hands its much more fun to post ones where we don't know if what we did was right and chat about it.

Sorry of that sounds harsh but whenever I read this thread now it's always people moaning about how "bad they run" because they lost a couple of hands.
