Yeah, well in the end I reckon I could have folded, but was happy enough with my spot. I exited in 17th place though, which is frustrating considering I was in the top 9 at the time.

I don't think I'm folding QQ to that shove either. That range of [TT+, AK] is probably a worse case scenario and even that puts you slightly ahead. You can usually rule out AA and KK as they don't often over shove like that, and I'd probably add a few more medium pairs to his range [99 and 88] that are looking to flip for a double up, along with some higher aces [AQ, AJs].

So yeah I'd call and expect to win about 2/3rd of the time.

I'd probably snap call QQ and then think gooseberry fool I shouldn't have done that.

WH have changed there super series structure again back to higher buy ins which I think is a good move.

Alright, chaps. It's time to start planning the 2011 GRSOP.

One change on the horizon is the points structure. Last years there were some criticisms of the Heads Up event, in that those that were fortunate enough to receive byes for the first round received points for advancing to round two without even having to play. With some help I've taken steps to revise the points structure, though it has meant tinkering the points structures of the other events too.

This is last year's structures:
Heads Up Shootout
1st: 8 points
2nd: 5 points
3rd: 3 points
4th: 3 points
5th: 1 point
6th: 1 point
7th: 1 point
8th: 1 point

8-Game, Stud & Omaha
1st: 8 points
2nd: 6 points
3rd: 5 points
4th: 4 points
5th: 3 points
6th: 2 points
7th: 1 point
8th: 1 point

Main Event
1st: 10 points
2nd: 8 points
3rd: 6 points
4th: 5 points
5th: 4 points
6th: 3 points
7th: 2 points
8th: 1 point

And this is this year's (at the moment):
Heads Up Shootout for players playing in Round of 16:
1st: 12 points
2nd: 9 points
4th: 6 points
4th: 6 points
8th: 3 points
8th: 3 points
8th: 3 points
8th: 3 points

Heads Up Shootout for players with byes:
1st: 12 points
2nd: 8 points
4th: 5 points
4th: 5 points

8-game, Stud & Omaha:
1st: 12 points
2nd: 9 points
3rd: 7 points
4th: 5 points
5th: 4 points
6th: 3 points
7th: 2 point
8th: 1 point

Main Event:
1st: 15 points
2nd: 12 points
3rd: 9 points
4th: 7 points
5th: 5 points
6th: 3 points
7th: 2 point
8th: 1 point

One advantage we have this year is the Home Game client. This will make organising the games much easier, without having to password events and so on. In addition, we will be able to fully customise each event, i.e. starting stacks, blind levels, etc, so we have the scope to make events deeper if we want (thinking of the main event, here).

Lastly, what events do you want to see added or removed?

Exactly what I did

As regards to the GRSOP, I like the new structure, and I'm pretty happy with the line up of events.

OK for me to get in on this? More of a lurker than a poster, especially in this thread, but would be well up for it!

I think we should've another NLH event. With a cheaper buy in than the main. I also think perhaps have dynamic points structures based on the number of entrants, then perhaps give 1 point to every entrant to encourage participation.

Definitely! It's just a bit of cheap fun, really, we try to get as many from GR involved as possible.

Points in the HU from Semi's onward imo. In fact why not tighten up points given out and only give them for the top 3/4 etc? It's a bit silly you get could get a point for going out first.

Feel free to put forward an alternative points structure.

You need to put forward some numbers which reflect the point jumps already in place for each event.

I think a dynamic points structure works well when you have a huge difference in terms number of entrants for events, however we know that these events probably won't attract more than 12 players per event. Last year we only got 13 entrants total for the entire series.

Totally fine with the addition of a small NLHE event.

I'd be well up for playing this all. What are the prize structures and buy ins? Is the Main Event live or online?

They are all played online on Pokerstars. The general idea is to have a wide range of different events so we have Holdem, Omaha, Stud, Heads Up etc, and usually each of these is only $5 or so, then the main event will be No limit Holdem and that will be a slightly higher buy-in but still affordable so that everyone can play.

Did you have a read on the guy, or had he been habitually 3/4 betting you or something?
