PostPokémon 25th Celebrations - Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and Legends: Arceus announced

They've announced it as happening already. May as well start the thread early.

The 20th celebrations were packed with things not relating to video games, but even the games had a lot released on this year. Who can forget that this was the year Go! released, after all? The Mythical theme of the 20th celebrations was also a fun time, with each month being themed after a certain one, releasing not only the Lv100 'mon in the games, but also plushes and TCG celebration packs that included a pin badge of that 'mon (I've still got the ones I collected around somewhere). There was a lot of hype surrounding those celebrations.

Now the time has come again to repeat that. But how? In terms of the games, we know of New Pokémon Snap... and that's about it. But rumours of that Collection, if true, could certainly be used to start the year off with a bang. And unless there's a massive curveball being thrown and generation nine starts after just two years of generation eight, we can expect a remake or side series game to end the year. I also wonder if the Detective Pikachu sequel will release in that year. Outside of the games, a new movie is a given, and maybe another special TV series that'll maybe tie into the main series. And a lot of new merchandise, along with a special anniversary set with the logo on it.

As of the end of February, there's been new game announcements, set within the Sinnoh region. Take a revisit to a journey from 2007 with a faithful recreation of the games in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl coming late this year. Or head back to the past to a time where Sinnoh was starting to develop with Legends: Arceus arriving (hopefully) early 2022. And there's also New Pokémon Snap arriving in April, bringing an old classic into modern times.

Remake of Mystery dungeon explorers of sky please!

I bet it's going to be remakes of Gen 2. They've been copywrited earlier this year.

I'm 95% sure the collection thingy won't happen.

Anniversary promo cards featuring a stamp of the 25 logo with the 3 starters for each generation and Pikachu (25 total) have been leaking into TCG products for a few months so we can definitely expect that. We don't know how they'll be distributed etc but the product release schedule for December and January is basically nothing, the first wave of stuff starts hitting in February. I'd hope they'll announce before then though, I hate buying product blind.

Pikachu is national dex no 25 so I'd wager we'll just get a bunch of Pikachu themed stuff. There'll be a Yellow switch and Let's Go Pikachu will be 25% off for 25 hours. Sword and Shield owners will probably get a Pikachu in a "25" hat.

Aside from the very first one, I’ve never played a Pokémon game when it was current, and you could argue I didn’t even do that with the first one due to the delays in it getting here. I’ve always missed out on those gift Pokémon like the mythical ones. I just have Sword/Shield to play now, so hoping we get this Switch Pro soon as it’s putting me off buying one right now.

I certainly hope they give away plenty of legendary Pokémon, hopefully to fill out any gaps I might not be able to fill after the dynamax adventures in Shield (which I’m still yet to start).

Well, considering the mythicals were missed out of being included in the Dynamax Adventures, I think it's probably a sure bet we'll get them through the anniversary distributions.

How gen 1 to 3 games (omitted 4 as a remake does seem likely next) aren’t on the Switch in some way is boggling, I’d be there ASAP for a copy of Yellow, Crystal and Emerald

It’s just easy money, hopefully something like this happens next year with Home integration.
