The 20th celebrations were packed with things not relating to video games, but even the games had a lot released on this year. Who can forget that this was the year Go! released, after all? The Mythical theme of the 20th celebrations was also a fun time, with each month being themed after a certain one, releasing not only the Lv100 'mon in the games, but also plushes and TCG celebration packs that included a pin badge of that 'mon (I've still got the ones I collected around somewhere). There was a lot of hype surrounding those celebrations.
Now the time has come again to repeat that. But how? In terms of the games, we know of New Pokémon Snap... and that's about it. But rumours of that Collection, if true, could certainly be used to start the year off with a bang. And unless there's a massive curveball being thrown and generation nine starts after just two years of generation eight, we can expect a remake or side series game to end the year. I also wonder if the Detective Pikachu sequel will release in that year. Outside of the games, a new movie is a given, and maybe another special TV series that'll maybe tie into the main series. And a lot of new merchandise, along with a special anniversary set with the logo on it.
As of the end of February, there's been new game announcements, set within the Sinnoh region. Take a revisit to a journey from 2007 with a faithful recreation of the games in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl coming late this year. Or head back to the past to a time where Sinnoh was starting to develop with Legends: Arceus arriving (hopefully) early 2022. And there's also New Pokémon Snap arriving in April, bringing an old classic into modern times.
