Re: shinies -- Honestly the best tip I can give you on hunting for them is have a lot of patience and breaks. It can be soul breaking if you've been at it. Since I'm deaf I can't use this tip -- but make sure to put on music, or have anything on TV to make it bearable, taking regular breaks as you go along.

For me I just browse internet as I use left joycon to hatch eggs, pretty effective for me.

But yeah it's rng. You could hatch shiny on first egg or none after 1000 eggs :dread:

Oh, I've been doing fine with doing anything else while hunting shinies. Watching Youtube, tuning into the Jingle Jam, even swapping games after an hour to break the monotony.

I haven't really been on it much since I finished the campaign, isn't there various raids with special mon poping up and then there's filling out the dex and a battle tower? It's a very meagre offering but there's at least more than err, red and blue

Given all the other games I have to play, I really don't mind the slender postgame.

Dragapult might be the best designed Pokemon I've ever seen

Fave and least fave designs from this generation are #crucial #content. Here's my lot.

Top:

5. Wooloo - Cute little roly sheep, with a cry that actually sounds like a damn sheep.
4. Boltund - THE BEST BOY. Made more appealing by coaxing it from a round and kind of useless Yamper, those big watery eyes and canine-ness remind me of why I could never be a full-on cat person.
3. Drakloak - While I also like Dragapult's design, this middle stage swings it on the Pokédex entries. It cares for its Dreepy and will go seek out a replacement if it can't find one. :( Then Dragapult... shoots them?
2. Falinks - Not only does this have an excellent design that ties in really well with Galar, No Retreat is just the most Roman move ever and its animation is epic AF.
1. Polteageist - I'm so glad I mostly managed to keep this hidden for myself. When I found Sinstea I burst out laughing, and then this gave me a big old smile on my face. Very British, very cute, very well designed. Who says inanimate object Pokémon can't work?

Bottom:

5. Applin - Oh. This does. It's lower down because it redeems itself in a big way when it evolves.
4. Bilpbug - This one's all out of proportion. Its psychic evolutions kind of explain why it is, but this caterpillar just looks ugly. Caterpie, Weedle, Wurmple, and even Sewaddle are all better than this.
3. Morpeko - Getting reeeeeeal tired of the Pikalikes now chaps. This one's gimmick is interesting, but also feels... well, gimmicky. Sorry Marnie.
2. Impidimp - KILL IT WITH FIRE. This thing's hideous and ugly and it doesn't redeem itself much when it evolves either. At least it's meant to be demonic and ugly, which is more than you can say for...
1. Chewtle - ...this misshapen misproportioned mess. No redeeming features whatsoever. Bad design.

Shout-out to Stonjourner. It's Stonehenge with a face. Squarely in the 'so bad it's good' category.

Why does virtually every strawberry floating Pokemon seem to get a Dark Type move like Bite or Crunch? Anything weak against Dark feels borderline useless when even strawberry floating Ground types are able to one or two shot you with Bite/Crunch.

A lot of Pokémon have mouths and teeth. strawberry float, the player character probably has bite as an attack. Trying biting a Alakazam. You may 1 hit KO it yourself.

Man, I remember when bite was a normal type move. Good times.

I'm really getting into the online battling. If you want to max out your Pokémon then it requires you doing a little bit of all the end game activities.

One of the things I love about Pokémon is that you can set your own goals.

Some people want shinies, some want to complete their Pokédex, some like breeding, others like the online battling.

Speaking of which I have changed my team up a bit if you want another battle at some point.

I mean I think it's probably because ghost types are immune to fighting and normal type attacks and only weak to dark and ghost. Kinda balances them out a bit.

I'd suggest using a focus sash if you're getting one hit killed a lot, guarantees that you can get a heavy hit in.

This is so good. It feels like they've honed in on, and maximised, all the elements that make a Pokemon game fun to play.

I'm enjoying the surprise trades too. I noticed that all the Pokemon I receive don't have nicknames apart from a couple - but then I realised that they're not nicknames - these Pokemon come from abroad and they retain the names from their original language.
So my French Grookey is called Ouistempo, for example.

There are so many usable Pokemon too. I could feasibly have two teams by now. And it may just be me, but it feels oddly... challenging? Like, all my Pokemon are pretty well levelled due to Exp Share being the default, and it means I get to raise some interesting Pokemon I wouldn't otherwise as they're not viable initially in battle, but even my team of Lv 35-ish-es is no match for the Lv60 Gengars and such roaming the Wild Area!

Before Dark types were in Gen 2? Bad times. There were no dark types and bestmon is a darktype.

Nah Bite should still be a normal type attack. Makes no sense for it to be Dark type when such a wide variety of Pokemon learn it.

Well it is still pretty dark for Pokémon to simply rash to other Pokémon and used their teeth to attack.

Pokémon Origin first episode really showed this to me :slol:

Happy to do more battles Fade, though it sounds like you’ll whup me.

I like battling but online puts me off because I have absolutely zero desire to boil this down to a maths game of Special training to get max hidden stats.
