Finally got Inteleon. Easily one of the coolest final Starter evos in a long time for me. I love how they animated Sniper Shot too. All y'all haters just judging a book by it's cover >,>

I like to judge by concept and creativity. Inteleon has the most interesting kit by far out of the 3. Pretty much all the hate for it has been on looks, not what it actually does. This is coming from someone who hasn't liked a water starter since Totodile, so you can count bias on types out from my stance. I generally don't like pure water types anyway unless they're combined types with something else.

It is ugly as sin. It's anaemic. It's probably my least liked starter evolution ever. Of course that's all from its appearance, which is 95% my choice for all pokemon.

Inteleon > Cinderace > Rillaboom for me. I’d heard bad things about the starters and was absolutely delighted when my Drizzile (rubbish) evolved. Anaemic? How tubby should a salamander be OR!?

Fave starter lines: Squirtle Cyndaquil Torchic Piplup Snivy Froakie Rowlet Sobble. Did not expect the water-type bias but here we are.

Totodile is bobbins. :|

Inteleon, Cinderace and Rillaboom are all gooseberry fool, Rillaboom is just ever so slightly less gooseberry fool, while Intelion is slightly more gooseberry fool.

I just realised the only two water starters I like are Reptiles. So there is some kinda bias there. I just find those designs more interesting I guess.

My history of starters have been: Charmander, Totodile, Treeko, Chimchar, Snivey, Fennekin and Litten.

Gen 4 and 5 being my least faves personally. I do hope the rumours of Gen 4 remake are true because that's the game that needs it most.

My history included Bulbasaur Turtwig and Oshawott. I have to keep reminding myself that Bulbasaur’s evolutionary line is kind of meh and my attachment to it is primarily nostalgia.

After more than 450 eggs hatched, I have my shiny Sobble. I'm now going for a Lotad, but if it doesn't come within 700, I won't bother continuing. I'm happy with just one, but I want my shiny dancing pineapple dammit!

My starter choices (first time through, as except a couple I’ve used them all for a playthrough at some point, barring Sword/Shield of course) have been as follows,

Gen 1 - Charmander
Gen 2 - Chikorita
Gen 3 - Treecko
Gen 4 - Piplup
Gen 5 - Snivy
Gen 6 - Chespin
Gen 7 - Rowlet
Gen - Grookey

Definite trend towards the grass option in most games.

Hot take: Chespin is the worst starter from a design perspective, and Quilladin is the worst monster in a starter line. Chesnaught alone cannot save its family.

Like with the Gen 5 starters, it was much a case of least worse for me :shifty: really didn’t like any of the designs but Chespin seemed alright from a first look so it got my pick. Last gen where I genuinely struggled to decide (as they were all great) was Gen 4, one of the few games where I actually got all 3 starters on my team as they were great, the Piplup line is still one of my favourite water types even now.

It's ability lets it take a hit and not take a single bit of damage, Even if that hit would one hit KO or it's a dynamax move.

Even protect makes you take some damage from a dynamax move.

The only counter seems to be a Pokémon with mold breaker but then you're giving up a useful ability just to counter one pokemon, not to mention having a Pokémon with Mold breaker and a steel move.

Does it learn any flying moves though? Mimikyu isn't that fast aside from shadow sneak so it can't go on that much of a rampage.

It's got good speed though.

Found a good way to counter it, Raichu with Nuzzle and reflect.
Nuzzle breaks it's discuise, slows it and gives it a chance of not attacking, reflect makes all it's attacks do half damage. Then you can volt switch out and demolish it with a steel pokemon.

I love coming up with new strategies/synergy in this game

Yeah I know, just was saying it was similar with the Gen 5 and Gen 6 starters, in that I didn’t really reckon much to any of them and for both gen’s it was a case of least worse (although on subsequent runs of both I’ve ditched the starter).

I’m still very fond of Greninja’s line. The other two were bobbins though.
