I can give you two fossils on the ones you take back if people need any of them at this point. I know I'm quite late to the party  Or I can give you anything that's breedable in Gen 8.

Are you just looking for someone to do some trades with within Pokemon Sword or Shield? If so I could do this today, are you free now?

Yeah, just take my Pokemon holding the fossils, then let me switch game and trade back. I am free now. Do you want any of the fossils in return? I have spares of all 4.

I don't suppose anyone might have a spare Dratini that they would like to trade me?

I'd somewhat given up on the idea, but having been online just now, and then caught an Aerodactyl (with Grin's help!) and a Kabuto in quick succession, I figured I'd go for the full set of Gen 1 faves as it seems to be my lucky day!

I can sort you out! Been building a full living dex in the 3DS games for months before finally jumping into Sword and Shield so I can breed one for you.

What fossil Pokémon do you need? I only ask as you can catch all bar the Sinnoh fossil Pokémon in the wild in the Crown Tundra.

It was the combination ones for Dracozolt, Arctozolt etc. I had loads of them, just needed to get a couple across to the other version to get the last couple of combos. Just beat Leon in Shield, so just got to catch the box Legendary for the Shiny Charms now.

Ah thought you meant the older fossils! Also, they’re rarer but you can get all 4 fossils in Sword and Shield, 2 are more common to one version than the other. Just need loads of watts and patience as you need to spam the skilled/rare one of the digging duo.

The Pokemon caught in Max Raids have such good stats. I'm finding myself replacing so much of my older Pokemon. Will be great when it comes to shiny breeding too. Speaking of which, that nursery in the wild area, and now being able to swap eggs/pokemon in and out of boxes at any time could make breeding for shinies a lot more bearable than it was in other games.

Enjoying Sword so far, just on my way to the first Gym. I would say that at this stage I am well overpowered!

This is very enjoyable even if easy. Two gyms down now with little resistance. I like the music and dynamaxing, provides something different.

I just can't believe all these years later they don't have some kind of advanced difficulty option or something.

Would it really be that hard to make gym leader Pokémon 5/10 levels higher than yours or something if you turned on "expert mode"?

They couldn't even do scaling right in the DLC. It capped at like 60 or something so I was just one shotting everything.

I really enjoyed the DLC, but I think they really struggled with how to approach the levels. I don't know how much that influenced the overall design, but it felt like there were so few trainers because they didn't know how to handle the levels of them. A lot of the tasks you do can be done without any battles at all.

I have a ton of issues with Gen 8, but I've played these last two gens more than any of the ones before. I almost prefer the stuff after the stories are done. The shiny hunting, the dex completing, the breeding and training, and I think Gen 8 does all that really, really well. On the other hand, at times I found the journey through the routes and gyms a bit of of a bore. Definitely going to try some kind of 'make your own rules' run soon.

Sure, but the fact that 90% of the game plays like crap because they're too stubborn to add options is just silly.

Even then having higher levels is always better in an RPG because you have the option to grind to make things easier.

Pokémon Go does so much better than the mainline games now, and it's been out for 5 years. It's kind of embarrassing.

Like when they FIRST introduced team rocket battles, the grunts were always at your level but the leaders have always had at least 2x your cp. It's so much more engaging and requires more preparation.

They didn't "struggle" they just choose to maximise profit over anything else, that's why to this day the game looks and runs worse than games like God damn monster hunter

If games like Persona have difficulty levels there's no reason this game couldn't. They just choose not too because it's a cash cow and they know people will buy it anyway.

Speaking of making your own rules, I need to get back onto that article I was in the process of writing about the 1:3:6 run (which is the current name I've settled on for it). Basically, what I did when I streamed Shield with the Wool and Wings run. You have two descriptors (the wool and the wings), with one of those seeing you use three of the same Pokémon while the other sees you use three 'mon that fit the descriptor. To use another example that could be used in the upcoming remakes, the Buds and Bolts run would see you using three Budew (and the evolved forms) and three electric types. Until you are able to find other electric types, though, you'd be using three Shinx.

It's certainly a lot of fun to do.

To give you an idea of how stupid the AI in these games is, this guy beat Pokemon X&Y when every trainer in the game had Level 100 Pokemon and he wasn't allowed to fight wild Pokemon for exp.
