I don't think this video really proves that, it's pretty interesting and he had to be pretty smart to do it!

Black and White had a harder mode, it didn’t really change much though? Gym leaders Pokémon were a bit higher but this just meant you got more exp from them (I think they gave more exp anyway) which meant you levelled up quicker too, whereas what they really need for a hard mode is better AI. I’m not sure if they let AI Pokémon have held items but they should do such a mode, as well as much better move sets (heavily boosted by TMs if needed) with actual counters for their main weakness or two.

You needed to finish the game before unlocking it though.

White 2 had an easy mode if you finished the game. If you wanted the hard mode you had to connect the game to someone that had finished Black 2.

Genuinely wonder what was going through their heads when they came up with this, an idea people had been wanting for a while (probably I guess) and they lock it behind knowing someone who’s finished the game, but if you want the hard mode it has to be Black 2 they’ve finished :fp:

Making a hard mode version exclusive isn't

Unlockable difficulties itself is pretty normal but games tend to have easy/normal/hard unlocked from the beginning and only have difficulties above hard as unlockable. Obviously there are other examples but yeah.

Yeah that’s not too common (the method for unlocking different difficulties that is) really for any games.

Would it really be that hard to make gym leader Pokémon 5/10 levels higher than yours or something if you turned on "expert mode"?

They couldn't even do scaling right in the DLC. It capped at like 60 or something so I was just one shotting everything.

youd almost think it was aimed at young children

Right, but so is Mario, so are Pixar films, so is Fortnite. That doesn't mean you do the bare minimum so only 7 year olds find the game challenging or engaging

There are plenty of ways to make the game enjoyable for everyone.

The weird thing is that they keep making the games easier despite them already being superbly popular, so it's clearly not necessary to make them easier for a younger audience. Red and Blue are the best selling games and they were probably the hardest!

Well if you need to be challenged to be engaged then that’s down to you

I don't, but the story was pretty gooseberry fool too

Also I just want to point out I have played like 800 hours of this game, but most of that was online battles and raids.

Well it’s doing something right then

Turns out having challenging opponents makes the game fun

At least until the second DLC dropped and every team had 3+ legendaries on it

I get that, you've made it pretty clear you think it's fine for them to put zero effort in despite them being the biggest media franchise in the world
