THIS.

A quick look at Reddit reveals you're wrong and that Black and White nearly destroyed the franchise.

I played through White 2 recently and while that did have old monsters in it from the start, it reminded me that the fifth gen is probably only beaten by the second (nostalgia gives Red/Blue a pass but objectively they aren't the best).

Plus, Black 2 and White # were by far the most fully fledged "third editions" too, and were proper sequels. They are what Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon should have followed.

I don't see why every single Pokémon game needs to allow you to use every single Pokémon, or the same team/monster you've used six times already. If we want them to keep adding new monsters - and I do, as I still think the designs are generally decent and new typings have been interesting - then there has to be some give. And I'm fine with them rotating through the "legacy" lot every generation.

As I said before, I can't think of a single pair of games since the first Red/Blue games, that have allowed you to catch every Pokémon in it anyway. Even Gold and Silver required those first games. X and Y required Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire. Diamond/Pearl required Heart Gold/Soul Silver and, like I said, Ruby/Sapphire requires you to wait bloody two years for Colosseum and XD *and* buy a GameCube.

The Pokémon aren't getting erased, you'll still have them and they'll still exist. It's not a case of never seeing them again.

When I'm playing a brand new region and catching brand new monsters, maybe it's just me, but I won't be thinking "man, I wish I was able to use my Blastoise with the same moveset since 2007 right now".

Likewise, as others have said, some design patterns are repeated. Every region generally has a Pidgey-equivalent, a three-staye dragon, maybe something similar to a Geodude etc. Cutting down on the Pokédex in each generation means less repetition and allows new designs room to bed in and actually get in to people's teams permanently.

If Pokebritain has some great designs and solid type diversity then I don't care. If its designs are weak or if I can't find good Pokemon in my favourite types then I'll obviously miss past games and their rosters.

"At first I didn't think Pokemon would have the writing chops to tackle the Troubles, but the scene where Professor Magnolia brokers a peace deal is actually very poignant"

A reminder that this PoS can now never be culled because it got a starring role in the film.

Still digging the vibe of this. Great Gym Leader designs all round which is nice too see. Became a pretty quick fan of Bea >,>

Wasn't super into Dynamax and now we have Gigantamax and I'm still pretty indifferent to it. Why not call it Gigamax tho? Short and sweet.
