This is Pokemon Let's Go though. You don't even have an opportunity to weaken them, it's just BALL BALL BALL BERRY? BALL BALL BALL BALL BALL *they ran away!*

The Pokémon in Let's Go move around so you need to angle your throw (or the screen if you're using handheld mode) to have a chance of catching the Pokémon. It's not a huge change but I do have memories of mindlessly throwing balls at Pokémon in Red whereas I have work to angle a throw in Let's Go to get a Great or Excellent bonus.

I think you have it backwards. In mainline pokemon you have plenty of catching strategy and I'd go as far as saying if you're continuously chucking balls you're doing it wrong. Don't think I've ever thrown a pokeball more than maybe three times in a row in mainline pokemon.

In Let's Go in contrast you can be easily throwing tens of the things just waiting for the odds.

I feel like both methods have their elements of luck but I've found Let's Go more engaging. Maybe it's because of the huge departure from mechanics that I had played for over ten years but I did find that wild encounters didn't have much in the way of tactics as I was playing Y and Sun on the 3DS. In fact, I never made it far in those games but I've managed to reach Victory Road in Let's Go, Pikachu and I wouldn't put this completely down to nostalgia as I stopped playing Red when I reached Saffron City on the Virtual Console when it was released there for the 3DS.

The other thing I like about the proper catching mechanics is that you can't just overlevel your starter and rely on them for everything if you want to catch pokemon, as you would be OP and one hit KO everything rather than hurting it down to a catchable level of health. In Let's Go in contrast you're actively encourage to just make your starter a raging hellbeast.

I played through Fire Red not long before Let's Go and I definitely had more fun battling wild Pokémon. The only thing I'd want from let's go is seeing the pokeom in the wild, and I'll honestly surprised it took as long as it has to happen anyway.

Actually, you know what: no Go elements at all, no Gyms, no wild Pokémon. Let’s have a sequel to the best game in the series of its day: Pokémon XD.

That’s the baby. Got a couple of sniffy reviews for re-using content from Colosseum, which ignored that it did some really good stuff with the content from Colosseum, as well as making an actual RPG out of it rather than a side-game.

I actually ditched Pikachu from my team and haven't felt forced to bring him back. I'm using my classic team from Red

Arguably better than having an electric type with fighting, water and flying moves!

The ability to use HMs without needing pikachu in your party is great.

Did you have Eevee or Pikachu Pedz? Because that reads like somebody who hasn’t tried playing with a stats.-boosted Eevee that has one of the most versatile non-legendary movesets since Smeargle.

Oh, hell yes. Even if I'd much rather just have the colosseums of the game be put into the main games, I certainly wouldn't say no if another in the series came to Switch. Or something similar without Shadows [though why you'd want to get rid of them..?]. Or even just a remake with the new mechanics and models.

Now, excuse me. I'm going to let the music play.

Seriously though, the Switch game needs a dynamic camera as featured in these games' battles. The 3DS games just don't feel right with the camera hardly moving while in a 3D battle environment.

How do people think the Pokemon bank is going to work? I've seen people say that we might be able to transfer from 3DS to Switch but not back, like the old days, but not sure how that would work these days. If the new games let you move things to the bank, the 3DS games are already set up to take anything out of the bank. Maybe they'll move to Pokemon Bank 2.0.

She doesn't evolve - just like Pikachu in Yellow (and thus Let's Go Pikachu) - but, you can teach her incredibly overpowered unique moves that make her very viable. She also has perfect stats which helps a bit.

 If it's any consolation, she learns what is almost certainly the best fire-type move in any Pokemon game. Sizzly Slide  :toot:

Hopefully it’ll keep working as normal, I don’t see any reason why a Pokémon couldn’t be used in US/UM and then transferred to the gen 8 games later (being moved at willbetween the numerous games if the player wants), after all they made it so Pokémon from gen 1 & 2 could be used in the latest games. Naturally the only ones who wouldn’t be able to be sent from gen 8 to the older games would be the new Pokémon.

Is anyone else a little disturbed by Karl repeating calling Eevee "her"?
