Four gyms down now and really enjoying myself. As expected, I do indeed now have a Charizard, Blaziken and Incineroar. Just waiting on my rabbit thing and coal car evolving, and then I'll raise Growlithe till he gets Flamethrower and pull the trigger on a firestone.

Potential Flamethrower related spoiler:

You can use the fire stone anytime, then visit a Pokemon Centre and speak to the move tutor - you'll be able to teach your Arcanine Flamethrower at that point, regardless of its level.

Thought you might have known about that already Cora! Makes it quite easy to have a powerful, fully evolved fire type early on in Arcanine and Ninetales as I think you can get a fire stone relatively early.

Anyhow, catching higher levelled Pokémon in the Crown Tundra (such as Tyrantrum, Dragapult, Dragonite etc), alongside trading in what I can from Go is slowly helping fill out my National Dex, now up to 767 from low 700 ish a few days back. Going to leave whatever I’m missing from Gen 4 as I’ll be able to use the BDSP remakes to fill in those gaps so hopefully it won’t be too long before I’ve got a massively jumbled up living Dex in Home barring Gen 4 Pokémon and the mythicals as I’m really not that invested in Go to try and get them through that, plus you can’t even transfer Jirachi and Victini in so I’d still be missing a couple if I went for it on Go.

Down to 91 left to get a living dex in Home now, fingers crossed the rest go as relatively smoothly as it has done up to now! Also in Sword, I’ve just got the Sword exclusives left to find in the Dynamax Adventures, still got 7 left so it could take a while but now I know how to get repeat routes (didn’t realise you needed the Legendary at the top of your party after doing a route) I’m going to try moving my Shield versions in and see if that triggers it, don’t really want to be looking for potentially ages with no luck really

Edit, it does not work :( If I don’t have any luck over the next few days has anyone got their Dynamax adventure caught legends on their save that I can get a route for? Need the following ideally, no rush though.

Lugia - now caught
Latias - now caught
Kyogre - now caught
Palkia - now caught
Thundurus - now caught
Zekrom - now caught
Lunala - now caught

Wow. Blaziken is one of my favourite pokes and one of the best in-game too. Still, I didn't catch a competitive one yet :(.

You know you can basically make any Pokémon competitive with items etc right?

Just two more legendary Pokémon to catch before I’ll probably call my time with Sword/Shield. Just have Palkia and Thundurus to find then catch. One thing I do wish you could do is filter which version players you connect with, would cut down a lot of the repeat routes you get.

No, but even saving 5 hours would be pretty good in my opinion! I wouldn’t say no if anyone fancied helping me out finding the last couple of routes too :shifty:

Just Thundurus left to find and catch :toot:

Then I’ll just have to jump back on my Shield save to catch loads of stuff to trade to finish off my dex (well as much as I can), really have loved my time with Sword and Shield

Edit, finally caught it :toot:

I've been doing prep in Ultra Moon to aim for a living dex (I don't have a Switch yet). Thankfully most things can be caught across the 3DS games + Sword and Shield, so don't need to go back to that painful transfer process from earlier games. The only things I think will cause issues are mythical ones (I have some that came on a 2nd hand copy of Diamond, but really want to catch them myself), so hope we get more gift events. I know the remakes were always good for this in a sort of celebration/fan service way, but BDSP don't look like the usual remakes so I could be out of luck. Maybe they'll do something with Legends Arceus.

I’m really hoping the likes of Shaymin, Darkrai and Manaphy/Phione are easy to get in the BDSP remakes later this year. I think I’m nearly at about 70 Pokémon left for my living Dex in home. I’ve skipped the gen 4 ones I’m missing as I’ll be able to grab them in the remakes later this year but gen 5 has been slow going so far, people wanting a Mewtwo for a Dewott for example :fp: I can see why they’re rarer as you can’t easily breed them in the newest games but not going to trade a legendary for a second stage starter  Kind of annoying that I’m so relatively late in wanting a living dex, but Let’s Go/Sword & Shield (with the DLC), plus what I transferred across from Bank has gone a long thankfully.

I’m still holding out hope they’ll do some form of mythical Pokémon distribution this year (maybe announced at their pre E3 show if they have one), as I’ll be about 11/12 Pokémon short of a living dex if we don’t get the mythical in the remakes or distributed somehow. Only one I wanted to pick up at the 20th anniversary legendary/mythical distribution was Manaphy, in hindsight I should have got them all.

Could I trade with you using just the Home IOS app and a free account? It would be quite easy for me to breed a few of the starters and just beating a couple of high level wild Pokemon would probably get them to the second stage and transfer them into Home.

My plan is to get the rumoured revised Switch as soon as I can, and at that point pay for the premium access to Home too.

I suppose in theory you could, I have no idea if you can trade for free through the app or not though or if you need the paid subscription to trade though? More than happy to just chip away at the Dex anyway though so no need to go out of your way. Just checked and I’m onto 67 Pokémon needed, 26 of those are from gen 4 (sadly 4 being mythical ones). I suppose what I should really do is get a Bank subscription again, quickly get what I need from the various games (or what I can rather) and then transfer them across to Home again, although I have no idea if that’s something you can only do the once or not….

Edit, down to 49 Pokémon needed for a living Dex now, the end almost feels in sight! :toot:

Bit of an ask, but has anyone got a spare Gogoat and Bruxish sat in their Home accounts doing nothing? These are the last 2 I need outside of the various mythical Pokémon and the gen 4 ones that I need. Been putting all sorts of stuff I’ve caught from the Dynamax Adventures up for them alongside gen 8 fossil Pokémon but no luck, everyone seems to want legendary Pokémon for them  They’re not that rare surely? Can breed anything that can be put into Sword/Shield if you need anything from those games in return. If not I’ll just put up a spare Ultra Beast for them, although even they’re not being asked for in return for the above 2 Pokémon

Edit, only 33 left to get in total though :toot:

It looks like it doesn't even matter if you have a paid account, you can't transfer from Pokemon Bank to Home without a Switch. That's a bit annoying as I could easily breed/level those up in Ultra Moon for you.

If Switch Lite is in the upcoming Prime Day sale, I might be tempted to pick one up. Even if this Switch Pro is announced, it's bound to be a right ball ache to actually buy one.

It’s the one downside to Sword/Shield not having access to the full National dex I suppose, some Pokémon will become rarer due to people not being able to breed them, catch them in Go etc. I’ll get them eventually, the mythical ones will be the pain due to them being in Go or nowhere currently

I can definitely see the upgraded Switch being a nightmare to get ahold of if it’s a substantial upgrade, a good deal on a Switch Lite might be a good idea in the short term.

Edit, now have a Bruxish.

Feels like I’m just constantly bumping this thread :slol:

Down to the 11 mythical Pokémon before I have a full living dex in Home, however I’ve seen that the QR code for Magearna still works in Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Moon? I’ve still got Bank downloaded on my 3DS so would I be able to get one or two Magearna on my respective games, transfer them to Bank (guess I’d have to buy another subscription just for one Pokémon :fp:) and then transfer them to Home despite having already done a transfer? Would a second transfer cost me?
