Completely forgot about the potential of DLC for this Gen too, damn. I know past games usually get updates and events but I wonder if we'll go as far as expansions and new story quest for this.

They almost teased us a little with DLC for Sun/Moon by saying Lillie was going to Kanto but that never came to anything.

This is my take. The multi-region adventure sounds good, but honestly, GSC’s Kanto was a shadow of its former self, as well as being a bit messy and unstructured. They’ve only got a finite amount of development time and resources: let’s see that all going towards one excellent world map thank you.

I could see DLC diving into other regions, but that's about it. Gen 1 is like the FF VII of Pokemon in that GF can easily milk the nostalgia if they wanted >,>

And they just did. They literally just did in the last Pokémon game they put out. No more for a while please.

Anyone think there's hope for an official Pokémon mmo?

I'm also up for seeing multi regions on the next gen of Pokemon. Maybe as a dlc thing to make sure they can spend a good amount of time developing them. Although I think they would need to change the way the level system works as after two regions most the party would be lvl 90+

If there will be multiple regions (either in the base game or from dlc) I’d like to see them mix it up a little like they did with Black/White, in that you can only catch the regional Pokémon (national then opens up when you’ve done the 8 gyms so you can still smash the elite 4 with a team of all of your strongest Pokémon to date) in each region, this would mean the player has to use a lot more Pokémon throughout their journey. Only thing that might need to be worked on is the Pokémon distribution on some of the routes, this was one of my highlights of gen 5 in that you had to use the new Pokémon and not rely on your favourites.

They used We Will Be Heroes instead of Diamond and Pearl, and I am eternally thankful for that.

I really do get the feeling they are going to announce gen 8 on the 27th, either that or they’re going to make/re-release the best version of game/gen for the Switch’s eShop  (probably never happen but I can dream).

Another thing that would be amazing (if on the off chance a lot of regions are included) is like in the anime, a huge Pokémon league but done in the elimination format. Obviously they could include such a format anyway but having trainers use a huge range of Pokémon from a few regions would just be amazing, imagine getting put up against a trainer like Tobias from the Sinnoh series who just spams legendary Pokémon.

I shouldn’t do this to myself as none of it will probably happen

The Unova region guide uses Black and White as the remixed theme, though I was hoping for It's Always You and Me. Wonder which of the themes they'll be using for Kalos. It'd be a bit strange to be using the original theme again, but out of the other two themes I don't really know which is the more likely. And unless they don't see the obvious opportunity, the Alola region will have the new theme for the third season on the guide.

Oh, and also...

GameXplain have a discussion on Gen8.

Watching their discussion as I type :)

Getting quite excited that we could actually be a few days away from seeing the beginnings of gen 8, making me want to go back and replay one of the slightly older games.

Also I was thinking more about my earlier comment of this build up leading to an announcement about all the Pokémon games being available on the Switch. Granted the DS games would need a bit of reworking to work well on the Switch with the move form 2 screens to 1 (unless they awkwardly put them side by side?) but it’d be great to have all the games on here alongside a new bank app so you can play through one of the older games and trade them straight to the bank should you wish.

Had to genuinely google that that was a real move.

Sounds like Denny talking about anal.

No, just a gut feeling that all of the regional videos they’re posting each day are building up to something, obviously I could be completely wrong and it could literally just be building excitement for Pokémon day or for some other piece of Pokémon related news (there is meant to be another trailer for Detective Pikachu soon but posting a video each day about a region seems a bit over the top for a new film trailer in my opinion).

It's all Pokémon Day, and I think the last two generations have been unveiled around then, with a November release. Most people are expecting something to happen then, as Gen 8 seems like it will follow a similar timeframe if it's out this year.

A few leaks have said that the titles are:

Pokémon King and Queen, or Pokémon Crown and Sceptre. Probably tied in to the fact that the UK has been rumoured as the next region.

They should just called it Pokémon York and Lancaster and have you execute the Elite Four and all their male heirs.

If the new region is based on the UK I'd be delighted
