Well, they are 3d models and not sprites now, so a bit of motion other than them turning on the spot is expected. And there is movement present with that one man near the end, along with other bits of motion such as a head turn to look at you as you walk on by, but that's mostly just reacting to your presense. The Pokémon are displaying more motion than the people, but as I said, I'm sure this is an earlier build where everything was just placed and only those animations they already had (such as the man's motions being the same as those in that bit of steam city we see with the two women in the background) being added.

The town itself looks cool, the camera is definitely an improvement

I think it’s looking really good, just 3 months away now, it’ll be here before we know it

well it does seem to be missing the standard "game footage not final" that most pokemon trailers have, so id say early build is very likely

Got a couple of questions as I have not been following the news on this

1. Does this have an option to share exp with the whole team like the Let’s Go games?
2. Can you catch all 3 starter Pokemon in one game? Or do you need to trade to get all 3?

It looks like a traditional Pokémon game, not a Babies First Pokémon. So, I would assume that you'll need exp share to share exp like the mother games and for 2 I think you'll need to trade as let's go was based on Yellow where you get all three starters like Ash in the show.

Actually the 'exp share to the whole team' mechanic was introduced in X/Y and was brought back for Sun/Moon so I imagine it'll be here as well.

And yeah it's unlikely you'll be able to catch the other starters during the game but it'll be easy enough to get them from online trading.

If I recall correctly, it is a key item. You select it to turn it on and off. Regardless, it's an option to share exp with your whole team.

Stand aside Young'uns!
There was definitely an Exp.Share in Red/Blue. It was called Exp.All

I remember being really excited by it when I got it on my Gameboy Pocket. Then being disappointed that it wasn't the same Exp for all the pokemon, but the Exp divided equally...

I did know about exp all in red/blue. Didn't think it was worth mentioning though since it wasn't a major feature of the game and doesn't return in any form like that until x/y. Was locked behind one of prof oak's aides later on in the game, and as you say the exp gains are split, so the effect wasn't nearly as great.

Indeed, I was just saying you need exp share to share exp it isn't just something that happens like in Let's Go.

Isn't exp all/share in all the mainline games in Gen I it's called Expall, but in Gen II onwards they changed the name.

Just reading up on it and it is and in Gen VI onwards it still only gives 50% of exp to Pokémon that haven't fought in battle, though it is to the entire team.

I was wondering why my Alpha Sapphire team was such a high level, I was sure that with the original EXP share the Pokemon used in battle got 50% and the other pokemon holding the EXP share got 50%.

In the new system, it seems that the Pokémon used in battle gets 100% and every other Pokémon gets 50%, which I didn't realise (assumed it was 50% for the Pokémon used in battle and the other 50% split across all other Pokémon) Grinding is painful but I feel it makes the game too easy as there were no tense battles such as against Whitney's Miltank. If they want to keep the current XP share, I think they should give it to you much later in the game (i.e. after beating the E4 the first time).

I think the new system is dumb because there is no risk/reward in sending out weaker pokemon into battle when they can just hide in your party, and turning it off feels like the game is punishing you because it doesn't redistribute that xp fairly - you just lose it.

It's helpful for bulk training 'mons, and it makes the grind shorter. In my experience, I was never overlevelled for a certain part unless I put that training in beforehand to do so. It also not like there was much risk/reward in the old system anyway, as unless the opposing 'mon had pursuit, you'd always swap out for the stronger 'mon on the first turn unless you wanted to give it a chance to fight [which if it was seriously underlevelled would just be pointless as it'd more than likely be one-shotted anyway].

I can understand if you had no choice but to do so, but if a 'mon is in your team, you'd better be training it just in case. The new EXP Share means you don't have to be putting that much effort in, but at the same time it's still not a dead cert for pulling out a victory if you don't train it to be near the levels of your strongest.

You can't turn off a feature that's designed to make the game easier, then moan that the game is harder and it isn't fair!

I can and I will 8-)

It's a lack of balance. If I turn the experience share feature off, the balance of progression is altered but the game does no accommodate or acknowledge that. It's obviously not designed to be played in that way, so it's a half-hearted concession. I want to turn it off because I prefer the added strategy of ensuring all pokemon on my team get battle experience, but when the game has been made expecting you to be using the experience share, turning it off doesn't actually alter the game in the way I really want it to.

Regardless pokemon has never really been balanced - but that's probably one of my biggest complaints against the games in general.
