Does anyone know how to trade and battle with friends online on this? Is it even possible? Y Comm is all for wireless and local multiplayer, right? So I think I'm missing something... or online fights and trades can only be with randoms?

You'd have to set up the link code so only those who inputs same code to be able to trade/battle/raid with your friends only. It's dumb.

Only 17 pokémon until I've got Galar Pokedex completed, I need the following:

Sableye
Croagunk
Spritzee (+item to evolve it)
Solosis
Oranguru
Lunatone

Eiscue
Gooby

2x Sweet Apple or tradeback Flapple with Appletun (so 1x)
Zamazenta (tradeback okay)

So if anyone wants to do any trades lmk!

I can trade you a Solosis, Oranguru and Lunatone if I can have a Grookey, a Darumaka and a Passiman in return.

Can do after I've finished this raid :) Do you want them hatched or still in eggs?

Whatever is easiest for you really. I don't really mind as I'll be trying to breed the best Grookey I can anyway and the other two will just be used a Pokedex fillers.

Balladeer wrote:- My post was making a stupid joke. If that didn't come across then that's my fault for communicating poorly and I'm sorry. Didn't mean to offend.

- Hidden away in the stupid joke was a point about how I really didn't like the XC2 shipped-out Blades, because a disproportionate number of them were busty ladies. The devs themselves commented on how there were so many women that came out of the process. (This problem was not unique to the outsourced Blades, and I accept that it might well have been a problem with the design parameters.) This means that from my perspective, I don't think that's a particularly good example to use for the benefits of outsourcing designs. There may be others that could be referred to.

- I don't think this generation's, or last generation's, Pokémon designs were bad at all. It went through a dark period in gens. 4-6 where we saw a lot of dodgy ones (dear God Gen. 4 :fp: ), but I've been really happy with the overall quality of the designs. I've just got myself a Frosmoth and I'm very pleased with that. :D

- As for the music, I refer you to the Gym Leader theme. It's one example of what I think is one of the game's strongest areas, from the bagpipes to the battles. Hop's theme is about the only good thing about him, the town themes are broadly good... Basically the soundtrack is not a problem in my eyes/ears, and I'd be happy with more from Gen. 9.

- Essentially you did a negative post on what I think are two of the strongest areas in the game. That's fair, that's your prerogative; and I opted to make a silly joke as opposed to disagreeing with it all in detail. I mucked up the joke, so here we are.

It's gonna take a lot more than one joke in a forum to get me offended so we good. I think I took it too literally lol. It's not easy really talking about Pokemon designs since it's all subjective as to who like what. If we get a handful of cool mon every gen than I'm good with that honestly >,>

As for the music, it's warming up to me. I'm not as hot on the Gym theme as much as others but that might change later on. I'm still super early so can't really give a whole opinion on it yet. But my original point was more directed at the series whole then just SwSh. I still stand by getting new faces in to mix it up tho.

I'm happy to do some trading if people want. I'd quite like a Solosis.

Maybe without rumble - I loved it with, and it was nice of them to acknowledge one of the Switch’s features like they didn’t with the touch screen.

Didn’t realise I’d be so over levelled heading into the semi finals :shifty:

I find this kinda thing interesting... Do you deliberately grind in tall grass and, if so, why?

The last few Pokemon games I've played as an adult, I've been consistently aware of the potential for overlevelling so deliberately avoid grinding. My process when I enter a new route is to catch everything new and just battle the trainers - so far in Gen 8, if I've had any issues on the route then I know the leader will be challenging. If I can't get through the trainers on the routes then I do some raids, get some candy and level up wherever there's holes in my team.

I suppose that comes to the other part of the equasion - I swap in and out of my team so often whoever I'm bringing in needs a big boost to be viable.

To be honest I wasn’t actually expecting I’d be over levelled by much, my team are all at 60 so I was expecting to be on the high side but not my much.

Hop’s and Marnie’s teams top out at 49, I’m expecting Leon’s to be higher of course (he is the undefeated champion of course) but I doubt there will be a 10+ jump in levels.

But yes I was mainly just catching Pokémon in the wild area, barely any repeat catches either so it didn’t really feel like I was purposefully grinding.

Very nearly any the end of the games main content (so main story and postgame, sadly not really an in-depth postgame).

I was pleasantly surprised that Leon’s team was more or less around the same level as mine when I got to finally face him, after the lack lustre levels in the semi finals and finals I was expecting him to be high 50’s (and maybe his Charizard to top out at 60) but having them pushing 65 was good), with my team I struggled taking down the overload of steel Pokémon towards the end as well which made it a little tougher despite my levels..

I think I’ll take a break from this once I’ve finished the bit of post game stuff and caught Zamazenta, who I’m genuinely shocked wasn’t caught before Eterneus, for once I’m actually thinking of trying to complete the regional dex as it actually seems manageable this time round, I’ll be ‘ending’ my first stint on the game with 211 caught and about 46 to 47 hours played.

Final team was as follows,

Rillaboom, level 68
Corviknight, level 67
Greedent, level 67
Polteageist, level 66
Galarian Rapidash, level 66
Dragapult, level 66

On the whole I’ve really enjoyed it, kind of tempted to pick up a copy of Sword next year as well to help complete the dex, maybe even a living dex once Pokémon Home comes out (which, hopefully we’ll actually get information on in the near future).

My team are high 50's, maybe 1 or 2are in the 60s and I have done the semi-finals.

I've played about 40 hours and have 200+ mon.

Not sure if anyone else who has used the Dreepy line feels the same, but it’s easily become one of my favourite pseudo legendary Pokémon, much better than the ones from the past few generations.

Nessa's Dreadnaw gave me a legit challenge there for a sec. I'm pleasantly surprised. Gen 8 def has some of the coolest Gym Leaders in the series. So it really does bug me we barely get to know em'. Maybe that changes later so I'm holdin' out hope >,>

Dragapult is one of my favourite new Pokémon. It's design and moveset are great.
