well he has history, but ash has been attacked by some of his own too, though hes never had a second electric type so james is our best guess atm

I actually wasn’t aware they’d announced a couple of exclusives already.

Have just played through Alpha Sapphire, which has gotten me back into Pokemon. Was looking at Let's Go Pikachu but the levelling mechanics look awful (level up through catching Pokemon- apparently you can get to level 100 in about an hour). Is there are news on whether Sword/Shield are using the same mechanics or is it back to the traditional style?

Sword and Shield are back to the traditional style, well from what we’ve seen so far at least.

I wonder if Sword and Shield could have a tricky job getting their mechanics to satisfy everyone? Folk like me enjoyed the Let's Go style but I know that some others want a return to the more traditional approach. I'm anticipating the older mechanics being in place but maybe be with a concession or two to the friendlier LG style.

all footage shows its back to the usual method of catching pokemon, nothing to suggest that any of the lets go stuff is there

The only Let's Go style mechanic is arguably the pokemon appearing on the map in the free-roam areas

Dang. I'm not very familiar with the Pokémon franchise but I enjoy Let's Go. Think I'll read a few reviews of this before deciding about trying it.

There'll more than likely be a demo anyway, so you can try that out.

I still don't know what major difference there is between the mechanics of Go and regular games. They both involve chucking balls until you catch something, and it's never felt like the rating in Go for a catch has affected the chance value any more than lowering a 'mon's health in the main games. I can easily spam great balls as soon as a battle starts in the main games without landing a single attack, or wipe it out if I don't want or need it.

Not that I didn't enjoy the Go mechanics when I didn't have to use a touchscreen.

A new video has been released showing off one of the towns.



The first town you visit - as represented by the Galar map that was released months ago - was just four buildings, and looked pretty flat. A major difference as seen here.

Still seems incredibly lifeless. The NPCs are unforgivably static.

I would hope the NPCs do get little animated touches to them, but I would think that wouldn't be top priority until after the world itself was built and everything placed according to the plans. I assume the video showed such a build while they still work on the animations themselves. Through all of these videos there has been incremental additions and upgrades we've seen. I just don't think we'll see major animations like some hope to see.
