I don’t know why but this feels so much better than the Isle of Armor, guess it might be to do with the better main quest about finding the legendary Pokémon and such but the landscape is just great too, loved it when I’ve just come across one of the places where the Regi’s will be.

Nice, is it every single legendary or what? Any version exclusive ones? Last time I googled for an answer it wasn’t exactly clear. First impressions of the Crown Tundra are good though, environment seems really nice although I’m still at the very early stages of it.

Basically all of them apart from mythicals (so no mew, celebi ect)

Sword has the Red/Gold/Ruby etc legendaries and Shield has the Blue etc legendaries.

Although if you play with online matchmaking you can still easily run into the other version exclusives as it usually someone else hosting, for example I found Groudon and Ho-oh playing online despite owning Shield.

Only problem with playing online is you're also more likely to get duplicates (which you can't catch) where as playing offline with NPCs seems to always give you a new Pokémon at the end.

Still not a bad haul of legendary Pokémon you can get then, I’ll probably stick to single player till I’m getting duplicates and then try my hand at the online matchmaking, hopefully it’s a bit quicker than in the base game...... I’m fully expecting it not to be though!

you can also use the ncp peonia who will give you the location of a legend you havent caught yet in exchange for ore

Cheers for that advice as well, presume that’ll be once the main story part of the dlc is done with?

I think it's anywhen, but she only seems to offer it after you've completed a 'random' raid, not all the time.

It feels like more of an adventure, it gets you to figure things out for yourself rather than

"GO HERE, COLLECT THING, GO HERE, KILL THING"

Also most of the content is outside the main quest, where as in armor that's literally all there was.

Yeah its so much better, really hope they take note of this and implement it into the base games in the future, after all we’ve had similar to this in past games, like the Regi quest back in RSE.

They clearly wanted to make the whole game like the wild area but had to rush the game out.

The game is optimised terribly, it makes my lite hotter than any other game and stutters all the time in the wild area.

Hopefully they can make the next game like the DLCs have been and fix the bad performance.

They clearly had grander ambitions for the next generation than time. That's one reason I think we might only see one new main series title a generation from now on. Let the smaller team work on remakes (or perhaps even side series games?) while the main team handle the main game of the generation. That way we should see better world design and more ambition coming through from the starting game of every generation.

If they stick with the same engine, slightly upgrade the graphics and fix the performance (in the wild areas it stutters a lot of you’re connected to the internet, other players pop in like crazy too) they have a very solid base game.

They could do that if they stick to a 3 year per gen cycle, or 4 and have a year off (very unlikely),

Year 1 - base game
Year 2 - dlc for base game, plus bundle of base game & dlc released later in the year
Year 3 and 4 - remake and spin off, could rotate them round so it’s not the same pattern outside of the first 2 years.

Looking forward to seeing what will be coming next, but for now I’m really loving the Crown Tundra.

So another question from yours truly

How does the scaling work for the DLC? For a start, if I wanted to start it again on my second profile would I need to link the second user to my Nintendo account or would I be able to access the DLC from the off? I was wondering if I could use the second user to get a Cubfu and the other horse/Regi in the DLC, would this work?

But would I need to link it to my Nintendo account to access the dlc? If not I can just trade them to another Switch and then back to my main save so I can get them in the dex and home.

You can just create a second user and you can play the DLC, no need to worry about your Nintendo account.

Better yet, the Pokémon Home app allows you to transfer Pokémon between profiles on the same switch. Just log onto it on your main profile and it will let you select the save data from any profile on the console :)

I'm slowly playing through again so I can get the other horse and urshifu

The DLC scales to your level up until about level 70 for some reason. You can only start it once you unlock the ability to fast travel.

That’s great! Thanks for the in depth answer :)

Even better that you can transfer between the game and home regardless of profile! Not bothered about the other version of Urshifu (well certainly not enough to play it partway another twice ) but I think it’d be easier to try and get the other horse and Regi this way rather than trying to trade. Still need to go through the crown tundra first before restarting it, will probably head there ASAP though although getting another Zamazenta and Eternatus would be advantageous for trading for other legendary Pokémon I’ll be missing.

I chose Regidrago and managed to get a Regieleki by trading a spare shiny Chandelure I had, although I had to leave it up for trade for about a week.

But yeah your best bet is probably trading Eternitus or The dog for it.

Btw I'm sure noone on the forum is interested, but I'm super into the battling in this game so if anybody fancies a match let me know :D

I’ve already played through Sword with a different team, maybe replaying Shield I’ll just go for a solo run to speed things up, not sure which Pokémon I’d opt for though but at least I could transfer one in so maybe a Dreepy line run, Dragapult is such an op Pokémon

Well most of the legendary Pokémon can be found in one game anyway can’t they? Got a few spare Ultra Beasts I can hopefully trade as they’re still version exclusive I believe. So quickly running through the game again I can at least have as close to a living dex as possible!

Pretty sure none of the ultra beasts are version exclusives.

The last quest you get is to catch them all so it's be pretty shitty if they were

I wish they'd make some more ultra beasts, I think it's cool how they have such strange stats and such alien designs.

Oh god, imagine if they made an ultra beasts game where all the Pokémon were designed like ultra beasts, that's be cool.

Sound, I had it in my head some of the Ultra Beasts were exclusive as well! Good to know they're not :)

Just released the trio of birds anyway, think I'll go and get the Regi's first though, then try and fill out the dex as much as possible before looking for the birds. Just ran into a Cobalion as well, wasn't even aware they were in the games! When do the Tapu from Sun and Moon become available?
