Gents, thanks for the advice. I did fear that it was possibly a case of "you had to be there" to get the most out of these re-releases. I've checked with my bro and he has a copy of Pokemon Soul Silver that I could borrow if I wanted to; so, to dip my toes in the water, I might do that. Thanks again :) .

Butbred blue and yellow are the originals so although it is a rerelease it is the start point so surly they are the place to start

What do you reckon? Thanks in advance :toot: .

Yellow was sort of a "DX" release of Red and Blue. It didn't have full colour, but a lot of the graphics did have their real colour added to them rather than just being monochrome. A lot of characters and Pokemon were changed to look like they did in the anime (Jesse, James and Meowth were added too), and obviously you start with Pikachu instead of a choice from the original three. I don't remember, but apparently it was slightly harder starting with an electric type due to the initial Pokemon and gym leaders you encounter.

They were great at the time, but haven't really aged well in my opinion. I'd advise trying Heart Gold/Soul Silver or X/Y.

There have been a lot of changes in the mechanics since Red and Blue so X, Y, OR and AS are much more accessible than Red, Blue and Yellow. Even Fire Red and Leaf Green are better choices for newcomers than Red, Blue and Yellow.

I like the fan theory that Ditto is a failed Mew clone. They share similar colours in normal and shiny versions...

They both weigh 8.8 lbs, they've both got balanced stats across the board (Ditto 48 in every stat, Mew 100) and they're the only two Mon's who naturally learn Transform.

Mewtwo's pokedex entries frequently refer to it being a result of experimenting with Mew's genes for years, so it'd make sense that there'd be some failed results like Ditto. Plus, in Pokemon Yellow, arguably the canon version of Generation I, Ditto only appears in two places. One being the Mansion on Cinnabar Island where the experiments took place and the other Cerulean Cave where Mewtwo lurks.

Are you guys aware that your site is completely strawberry floating unreadable on mobile? There's an ad covering 90% of the screen and there doesn't seem to be any way to close it. I can read two lines at a time.

Are you using adblock? There's no ad when I viewed it on my phone.

Works fine on my mobile. I was more offended by the selection of Mudkip as one of the best Pokemon, than by any ads. Personally the Gen 3 starts are my least favourite of all, though Treecjo isn't too bad. I really liked the Gen 6 ones and their overall ninja/mage/knight themes and typings.

Was hoping to see the starters last night.

So if this is due 'late 2016', are we likely to see it Spring 2017 in Europe?

It was confirmed as a worldwide release. Ever since XY, and the move for all the games to be shipped as a single version (i.e. all versions contain all languages), they've been simultaneous releases.

Good news there then. Looking forward to see what they've got planned. New Pokémon is a given but I'd like to see better post game content, maybe more customisation options for the look of your character and yes, the return of the 'follower' lead Pokémon in your party ;)
