I'll take one please.

I'll take one too if it's still available?

I've started playing this again ahead of the release of Sword/Shield, and I've heard that you can catch pretty much every Legendary in this through wormholes? Has anyone tried that? Is it a ballache like it looks?

EDIT- Ah (poke)balls, I didn't realise you were talking about the originals.

I think only the Sun/Moon legendaries are available in the original titles. And Zygarde, but he's a right pain to get, as you need to collect loads of Zygarde Cells scattered all over the map.

But Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon together allow you to catch every non-event legendary so far I think. As I describe in the spoiler.

UM/US actually introduced two new Ultra Beasts too, so they aren't catchable in the base titles either.

Not got to the end of US/UM myself, but it looks similar to the method on the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire remakes.

You go through a wormhole and catch them. But some are version exclusive (for example, Ho-oh in US, Lugia in UM).

And like the third gen remakes, if there's a third legendary in a set, you need the other two to catch it. For example, Raikou is US only, Entei is UM only and Suicine requires you to have the other two in your party.

So like OR/AS, it seems every legendary is technically available across the two games, you'll need to trade to ge them.

I wonder if you actually need the US/UM monster for it to count. For example, I have a Raikou from elsewhere, so if I pair it with my UM Entei, will I be able to catch Suicine.

It's one of the great mysteries of our time.

I just inherited a fuckload of Pokemon games including UM/US/S/M/X/Y and I already have AS so I think I'm gonna go for a National Dex ahead of S/S.

EDIT; I know there's no Nat Dex in the 7th Gen, I mean via the Pokebank.

You should probably play the game which complements AS best.

I did a very cursory check. Alpha Sapphire for example, has Kyogre and Lugia catchable.

It seems like Ultra Moon has Ho-oh and Groudon. So maybe Ultra Sun is your best bet?

Not sure how all the other legendary pairs match up though.

EDIT - I did check others out, even though I'm work because of course I have time to check what Pokémon game is best for someone else.

Seems like Dialga and Palkia match up if you play AS and US. As do Tornadus and Thunderous.

I've actually got a pretty good spread of the legendaries, I know I'm missing Meloetta and Jirachi but other than that I think I've got a clean sweep, bar the ones introduced in the 7th gen.

For the 7th gen, if you only play one or the games, you'll obviously need the other box legendary different from your version.

There are different ultra beasts too, but handily, Game Freak wised up and let you catch a duplicate of them, so you can easily trade them for the other game's equivalent.

There are two new Ultra Beasts only catchable in Ultra Sun and Moon so you want to start one of those. I've just started UM so if we are both at the end, I can likely trade you my spare In exclusive for your US exclusive.

I don't think there's any current legitimate way to catch Meleotta or Jirachi unfortunately.

I can check if I have a spare Meleotta as they gave the event legendaries out back on 2012 and 2016 for some anniversary.
