New Lib Dem leader is going to be Rees-Mogg  :dread:

If that happened then Chuka would be so disgusted he’d be off to join the SNP.

I think he has a majority of one at the moment?

Losing 6 might be General Election time.

Edit - It's 4. I don't know where I got 1 from.

Possibly about to lose another.

EDIT - Brecon by-election must be soon as well, that's likely heading to Lib Dem right?

They're not quiting the party though, just heading to the back benches so it's not likely to cause a general election. People would have to defect to another party.

If they hate No Deal/Johnson enough to quit front bench jobs then they might be willing to support a no confidence vote.

I can't see it, they're just jumping before they're pushed.

Great news.

Is it?

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/tim-farron-resigns-jo-swinson-new-leader-liberal-democrats-voting-record-wrong-choice-a7793056.html

Couple this with Tory MPs showing an interest in joining and the Lid Dems look like a really bad choice, well, if you're a liberal/progressive.

Pretty good choice if you're anti-brexit though

Can't really blame her for the coalition stuff though. I imagine the majority of Lib Dem MPs from that time would show similar records.

Maybe so, but this isn't the only thing that matters.

It's the most immediate thing that matters though. As someone who has no personal investment in the LibDems, I'm happy to have a stronger remain presence in in parliament.

Considering it will affect us for decades and decades, it might as well be the only thing that matters right now.

True, but everything else that matters will be hugely affected by Brexit.

The Lib Dem’s or Greens are currently the only option in England if you want an anti-Brexit party.

Labour are offering a second referendum. The Tories feeling comfortable even talking about joining the Lib Dems really troubles me.

She didn't have to vote with the whip, what is the point of being a mitigating force in a coalition, if you're not going to use your position to prevent some of the egregious activities of the Tories?

That’s why I said an anti-Brexit Party not a “oh well maybe we’ll offer a referendum but first we’ll see if we can do a deal” party.
