Philip Green?

I'm stunned, he always seemed such a nice man.

It shouldn't be legal to grant an injunction for someone whose public reputation is such trash already.

When was the last time a legitimate democracy outright elected a leader as reprehensible as Bolsonaro? Fascism winning the popular vote in Brazil. :fp:

Must confess I hadn't read or heard much about Bolsonaro before now, but I read this primer, and ... yikes.

It's not really a legitimate democracy given all the gooseberry fool Bolsonaro supporting judges did to block Lula from even running again.

Western press loves to handwring about Maduro doing relatively trivial gooseberry fool like moving voting centers but the way the left has been totally blocked from elections in Brazil and had politicians repeatedly assassinated by the police is somehow treated as a lesser thing.

Orban's not even in the same league as Bolsonaro.

I really worry that after a no deal Brexit we'll end up electing somebody like Bolsonaro. It's going to be easy to blame the political classes if the economy goes to gooseberry fool.

I think the U.K. is a little different, we’re more likely to go hard right establishment posh (Rees-Mogg) than firebrand demagogue (Trump/Bolsonaro).

It’s scary and gooseberry fool either way though.

Yeah, but we'll have special new 50p coins to keep everyone happy, so it will be fine.

It's interesting as it's much harder to win an election in the UK, our system makes it much harder to get rid of incumbents. But I still think there is a change that something like a Tommy Robinson led UKIP could start to win seats at the next election.

Farage was the darling of the media and UKIP got nowhere - although they did pick up lots of votes. Yaxley-Lennon is even more divisive than Farage, he appeals to certain people but he’ll never break into the middle classes like Farage did.

I hereby crown Brazil as the current dumbest county in the world. Morons have learnt nothing from the appointment of Trump.

The amount of pro Tommy Robinson comments on any DM story about him that are liked in the thousands is truly scary.
