Watching news outlets parrot the government 'interpretation' of the election feels surreal. This must be a taste of what it was like living in the Soviet Union; where everyone knows they are being lied to and reality is resolutely ignored.

Greens could use a couple of quid for campaigning if you’re serious about voting against Brexit in the MEP elections

You can become a member from about £3 a month or just make a one off donation if membership isn’t your thing

Like Oblo said earlier, we are living in an age when people believe that voting is anti-democratic. It’s no wonder that they also believe a crash in votes for a party means people support the policies of that party.

DUP have first openly-gay candidate elected.

The response for the DUP is amazing (What? We let a gayer stand?!?!?)

Jim Wells, who has been one of the party's most vocal opponents of same-sex marriage, said: "This marks a watershed change in DUP party policy and none of the members were consulted about it.
"Many thousands of people in Northern Ireland are depending on the DUP to hold the line on these moral issues.

"They feel very let down and very concerned about what has happened."

Jim’s right, she’ll end up turning the whole of Northern Ireland into homosexuals.

Anyone referring to someone's sexuality as "a moral issue" needs to wind their strawberry floating neck in. Absolutely shameful that this is someone purporting to speak for the country's largest party commenting. Fair play to the candidate/councillor, must have took some serious courage to do that and while I can't really understand the logic I can at least respect the effort.

Of course being massively corrupt and stealing money isn't a moral issue.

Forty years after Margaret Thatcher was first elected as Prime Minister, a new YouGov survey reveals that the Iron Lady is still seen as Britain’s greatest post-war leader. Of the 14 PMs since 1945, Thatcher tops the list with 21% of the vote – although second-placed Winston Churchill is within the margin of error on 19%. Tony Blair comes a distant third at 6%.

So much for the Daily Mail's attempts to portray May to the general public as the reincarnation of Thatcher...

It's a shame Clement Atlee is so low.

Would love to see the breakdown of Churchill's greatest post-war successes to know what percentage is "he won the war!".
