I tend to always give the benefit of the doubt (to pain a lot of people here I guess), but really a broadcaster of a radio sports show which discusses primarily football, where monkey chants have been pretty topical this season, didn't make the racial connection to what he posted? I understand he has some kind of feature on his shows about monkeys dressing as humans as some kind of cutesy thing, but honestly how could he not have seen the connection?

I can give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he posted it without thinking AT ALL, but honestly I feel like I am doing mental gymnastics to think that. Even if he did, surely such a stupid mistake is a sacking offence any day of the week?

As someone who's repeatedly posted borderline xenophobic posts on this forum (see any thread about Islamic extremism) even I know that what he did was completely racist.

Not just that, it's the worst form of racism by far, equating someone of minority ethnicity to a simian is just vulgar.

Even worse when it's a baby, a clean sheet that hasn't adopted any kind of culture yet. He hasn't attacked Archie's personality, religion or political views, he's gone straight for the DNA makeup.

Parents have a responsibility to educate their children, and society tries to ensure that by providing freely accessible state education. Enforcing attendance of state education and outlawing alternate forms is authoritarian without justification. The state should only intervene when parents are failing in their duty.

The quality of state education can and should be improved, preferably to the point where private education is largely unecessary, but I don't see why that requires outlawing private education. Even if you ban private schools, or mandate state school attendance, you can have children being privately tutored, so I don't even see by what mechanism it would work.

That article is nonsense though, universities should undoubtedly consider circumstance and potential.
