Don't know if it belongs here but last nights Have I got News for You was pulled because Heldi Allen was on it. The BBC was worried that it would be seen as biasing the EU election. Which seems nuts to me. What does everyone think?

Now that she's a party leader it gives her an unfair advantage over other party leaders. Even if she didn't say a single thing about the elections it increases her visibility to the public in a way not covered by traditional campaigning.

It was the correct choice.

I guess Farage was busy that night.

Farage was on HIGNFY in the run up to the 2014 EU elections while he was the leader of UKIP.

Then they should have pulled that episode too.

Urgh, the BBC.

I think that was in April 2014 though, not in the same month.

The blame lies with the producers of HIGNFY, how could they not have realised we are so close to elections? It’s been clear for a long time now that we would be having European elections.

I think it should have been axed long ago, mainly because it's not actually funny any more.

On a separate note, received an election flyer in the mail today from Labour, and there were Labour folk campaigning here in town today. For this area that is almost unheard of, as normally the people around here are more Tory than Jacob Rees Mogg, in the last election the conservatives could have fielded a candidate who was a pot plant with a smiley face painted on, and they still would have won.

I'm confused by that analysis, 330 seats would be an outright majority for Labour. :?:

I'd be interested to see what model they've used because looking at the detailed map, the Tories will only have a handful of safe seats. It also suggests Labour are potentially less affected by the Brexit Party than the Tories are in the areas ardent supporters throw up as being the reason why the party can't back what the members want.

EDIT - I mean, is the Isle of Wight suddenly going to go Green?

Have been to the Isle of Wight it seems unlikely that place is like a 1950's time warp. But looking at the last election results the Greens came third with 12915 and the Cons won with 38190. So it seems pretty unlikely but not impossible.

The Isle of Wight isn’t a 1950s time warp, it’s more like a 1820s time warp.
