Is the correct answer Brexit? If think it's Brexit. It's definitely Brexit.

Good job that guy isn't still in office!

I don't see that as controversial. The Civil Service is meant to be politically neutral & implement the elected government's policies. We have regular guest speakers at my employer, it would be odd if we invited someone who had publically criticised our CEO on Twitter. When Labour win an election, would you expect the Civil Service to invite right-wing speakers who criticise Labours policies?

The government (and their cheerleaders) are spending a lot of time whining about "cancel culture" and "woke snowflakes that can't handle different opinions". But then they do something like this?

The government is not the same as your employer.

Not inviting people who have criticised Government policy doesn't sound very politically neutral to me

Was going to say the same thing - surely political neutrality means not filtering speakers by their political ideology.

We shouldn't want a civil service of sycophants (try saying that fast five times).

I would appreciate it if you would cease trolling, and following me into the Gaming side of the forum to make off-topic posts because you disagree with my political views.

MPs should be banned from providing paid parliamentary advice or consultancy services, a report from the MPs' standards committee has proposed.

Point 1 - the thread I presume you are referring to within "the Gaming side of the forum" was entitled Activision Blizzard Sued By California Over Widespread Harassment Of Women. Don't pretend I'm politicising topics that are aren't already.

Point 2 - the toxicity of your "political views" is not being masked by politeness like you think it is.

Point 3 - this is the Politics Thread so my comment is valid. Clearly a perception of neutrality from those in power is more important to you than right or wrong. You think it's fine for the government to enforce neutrality at the expense of basic human decency, similar to how you expected the mods here to not "call your character into question" when you were chatting about how a poor uni professor had expressed the "mild views" that trans people shouldn't have the right to exist yet she's been hounded out by those militant young people!

Point 4 - yet, strangely, you seem to think that the board rules don't apply to you, because "this isn't Question Time" so why should you have to provide evidence to back up your hatred? When someone is mean to Stuart it's ring The Mod Alarm! When Stuart is mean to others and gets called out it's You Don't Get To Question Me This Isn't the BBC!

Snowflake. Block me if you don't want to read my posts. But you should know: if you think you somehow have a right to post ignorance and bigotry here without challenge, you are mistaken.

1) You posted a completely off-topic comment in the Activision thread, unrelated to the discussion itself.
2) I believe in being polite even if I disagree with someone.
3) Kathleen Stock has never stated trans people "don't have the right to exist". You might not like it, but some of her views like being against instant gender self-identification are relatively mainstream. See YouGov polling if you're interested: https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/ar ... der-rights
4) I only reported your post as off-topic in the Gaming forum, I have not reported others to the moderators for disagreeing with me.

I don't wish to block you, but I believe it is trolling if you follow someone in threads and randomly post their previous comments in an off-topic & agressive manner, because you disagree with their views.

I can't see that image quote on the full document: https://www.womensdeclaration.com/en/de ... full-text/ Though it does state they wish to avoid conflating gender with sex in many instances. Others in the political sphere have expressed similar concerns, like JK Rowling when she raised exception with the word "women" not being used.

It's not a political leaning to be transphobic. strawberry float JK Rowling and strawberry float anyone else involved with that horseshit.

I don't personally believe JK Rowling to be transphobic, her blog post on the subject was nuanced. Most of the UK supports transgender rights, yet would also find it a bit silly to use the term "people who menstruate" instead of "women".

It's a clunky phrase but it's designed to be inclusive. Most people wouldn't mind if people used the word women, but it's avoided in those contexts to try to be considerate and respectful to trans people. The idea that people use that phrase because they have an agenda to marginalise women is ridiculous.

‘Nuanced’

I hadn’t spotted you much before but it’s increasingly easy to see how you’ve gained such a strong reputation so quickly.

Also
Pre pubescent
Post menopausal
Post hysterectomy
Etc

There’s a reason that article used the term it did. JK Terfling just tried to seize on something she didn’t understand to rile up her Twits.

Then the natural term would be "Women who menstruate", not "people". I can understand they don't wish to marginalise women, but if you keep avoiding the word that will be the effect. With respect, the trans-community is relatively niche and common-sense language which has existed for thousands of years should not be altered to avoid the possibility of mild offence.

It's a good point, language rarely changes over time.

Also, defending transphobic views by saying they're also held by other transphobes, what on earth  :fp:
