So the public see Johnson as less competent than Starmer, less decisive and signficantly more untrustworthy but still prefer him because he's likeable. The Prime Minister doesn't need to be competent or trustworthy. People in this country are strawberry floating retards.

The greatest bit of PR of the last 20 years was in getting everyone to call the PM by his first name.

It makes him human and like a soap opera character the public grow attached.

Go back to the days of Blair. Blair invades Iraq, Blair raised tuition fees, Blair accused of corruption.

Change it to Tony and it's a different situation, Tony is doing his best, Tony just wants to make the UK a safer place for everyone, Tony wouldn't lie, he's just like us.

We have a general public who get excited about clapping and who don't get angry at children going hungry. We celebrate an old man having to walk to raise money for much needed charities but don't ask how many years the charities could have been funded for with the 22 billion wasted in track and trace. People get angry about pulling down a statue of a slave owner but are happy to watch as unsafe cladding on tower blocks is left up.

Wish my image sig would work

This, 100% this
It removes the necessary air of professionalism and falsely breaks down the personal barrier. When we called Cameron "Dave" it was a joke at his expense, and yet Johnson invites us to call him by his first name. imo it was a familiar case with Mrs Clinton and even Sanders in the US, though obviously that didn't work out like it did here.

He's one of us! Who amongst the working class hasn't been educated at Eton and Oxford before using family connections to get a job at The Times?

Just got my first London mayoral election leaflet through the door this morning, in the guise of a mini magazine.

Is Bailey's entire campaign set around making fake articles?

Probably a better idea than focusing on his policies and terrible opinions.

The thing is I can imagine people not releasing it's a campaign leaflet and just chucking it or being really annoyed when they do realise.

Former French President Sarkozy found guilty of corruption and facing jail time, something I can't see any of the current Conservative government having to do sadly.

Not in that picture but I can see a slight similarity upon Googling Kathryn Hahn.

That sentence though:
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and two former associates have been sentenced to three years in jail - two of them suspended - for corruption.

----
Sarkozy can serve the term at home.

In the ruling, the judge said Sarkozy could serve house arrest with an electronic tag. The ex-president is expected to appeal.
