I bet Johnson didn't define what a woman is either.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss told a right-wing American think tank in August 2019 that the only people in Ireland concerned with a no-deal Brexit were "farmers with a few turnips in the back of their truck", a former British diplomat has claimed.

The Tories really do see Ireland as a backwater... Rees Mogg has said the same kind of bile.

Liz Truss will only respect you if you're selling pork.

Despite saying they accepted the Glenfall report in full, Home Office has back tracked on both evacuations plans and PEEPS for Disabled People as "too costly" for landlords.

Johnson has no vision aside from sitting in number 10. That's why we lurch from crisis to crisis. He is more than happy to do that as he can blame everyone else. They have no long term vision aside from making the right calls to keep Johnson in No 10.

This is essentially the same playbook as we faced during Covid. Johnson is entirely reactive but doesn't like to make a decision so just waits until all options have been removed from the table and there is only one course of action left to take.

I'm beginning to think he might not be a very good Prime Minister.

He's as good at being PM as he is at being a father.

Met closes investigation with 126 fines issues. Looks like Johnson only got 1 (and not for the parties held in his residence)

Mostly civil servants fined it seems, while seniors/bosses/organisers let off scot free.

Sue Gray report now to be released

I can't remember if this is actually true but wasn't it that those attending a party in Johnson's residence could be fined but he couldn't as he didn't leave the house?

I hadn't heard that, and don't know if it's right. Doesn't sound right though e.g. students hosting parties got fined 10k. Fines are meant to be more serious for organisers.

Can't wait to be told all about how this is a major win for Johnson somehow.

Think it's 126 people have been fined, not 126 fines. 28 people have received between 2 and 5 FPNs.

It's 126 fines - not 126 people

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/li ... ing-latest

A total of 126 fines were issued, or are in the process of being issued, the Met says. (The statement implies some of the most recent fixed-penalty notices may not have arrived with the recipients). But it says some people were fined more than once, and so the total number of individuals fined will be lower.

I mean it kind of is. The prevailing narrative for weeks/months has been he was a multiple illegal events - including events he organised/hosted

Now he's got away with just 1 fine at an event where he was "ambushed". Could hardly have hoped for a better outcome once the police got involved. (You can be cynical about how this result was arrived at as much as you like)

If he only gets 1 fine then that is a huge win for Johnson.

Let's see what the Sue Gray report says if they finally issue it.
