If the report is bad for Johnson, I can't see it being released until the police investigation is complete. Because you wouldn't want to prejudice the police investigation with your own endorsed report saying you are guilty obviously.

The report won't say whether anyone is guilty or not, it'll just say what happened and when.

The report can't be great because it has clearly unearthed enough evidence that the worst outcome has happened, it has led to a police investigation. So I guess plan B is to get the bad news out there now whilst there's a very serious geo-political situation developing when No 10 will say it would be wrong to destabilise the leadership of the country.

I guess this is the warning to No 10 that if they don't release the report in full, these pictures are getting leaked.

With Ukraine joining NATO, why, when Russia says it must never be allowed to happen, does the world seem to say "okay" rather than "strawberry float off, it can join NATO if it wants"?

There is a requirement to join NATO you cant have any active border disputes however this is not hard and fast. There is an issue with regard to the amount of corruption that is an issue with them being admitted. It's not gonna be a quick process.

Oh yeah I didn't mean to minimise the process itself, just the idea that Russia can dictate Ukraine's eligibility for no good reason.

Not to worry, I didn't think you did. There are so many things happening that someone is gonna get strawberry floated and I think we can all agree it's Ukraine.

Germany is / has signed a deal regarding gas with Ukraine so maybe things will be on the up and up and NATO followed by EU membership in the near future.

Ambushed with a cake.

This 2 parter documentary on BBC2 tonight at 9pm sounds interesting.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0013xcf

The Decade the Rich Won

The government and the Bank of England took drastic action to save the UK economy in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. Insiders from the world of finance tell us how decisions made to solve the crisis allowed them to ‘make out like bandits.’

From bailing out the banks to pursuing a faster, deeper austerity than any other country, Britain’s policymakers shatter the status quo in a desperate bid to save the economy. With first-hand accounts from key players, this two-part series takes us inside the room when the big decisions were made.

Europe is rarely strongly unified in standing up to the belligerent neighbour to the East and is dangerously over reliant on Russian gas. The rest of the world largely doesn't care.

From what I've read: apparently at the end of the Cold War Reagan made certain assurances to Gorbachev about future Western expansion eastwards. It was never clear exactly what these assurances were but Putin believes that Ukraine joining NATO is in contravention of those assurances.

Close.

4. Johnson declares war on Russia

5. Russia nukes the UK

6. Johnson survives in the government nuclear bunker and has a party to celebrate.

TOTALLY IRRADIATES THE PM!!!

Given this thread was anointed upon Boris' ascention to Chief Wanker, and nearly 800 pages later we're (please, please approaching his downfall, is it worth starting a new thread at some point soon? The poll, for example, is over two years out of date now - but it'd be a shame to lose its contents by amending the OP for a new one when the next snap election comes around.
