I thought the Lib Dems support HS2 anyway?

As much as I like fancy-pants new infrastructure, and I'm sure it'd be great, HS2 does now feel like a massive waste of money in terms of priorities.

I'd take better quality trains that also run on time over better quality trains that get there a bit faster.

They seem to be using it as part of their push against the Tories.

They are for it nationally, but campaigned against it locally. Presumably that one MP would vote against the Lib Dems on that issue.

It speaks volumes about the state of our politics that this feels like a bad thing. How far we have sunk.

Party members must all think the same way and vote the same way and all traitors will be shot!!

This is one of my main gripes about national politics. Party members not being allowed to vote freely for what they believe in and represent their constituents views.

You're all missing out on the DUP having a barney amongst themselves because Westminster is about to introduce the Irish language act which will basically mean signage will have Irish as well as English and be spoken by those who wish to in government buildings.

Arlene Foster had to step down because she didn't 'fight against it hard enough' and the new leader has resigned after 21 days for similar reasons. DUP losing their gooseberry fool over a Cupla Focal (a few words). :fp:

Actually I think you missed it as it was discussed a few pages back.

The DUP are just the latest in a long line of people thrown under the bus by the Tories.

Maybe but they are a horrible bunch of racist, bigoted, anti LGBTQ misogynistic banana splits so personally I'm f**king loving this, they are a loathsome party and Unionism needs to get rid...

It seems funny to be that the DUP seem to sped up the reunification of Ireland by trying to stop it happening. It kind of reminds me of the story about the man who tries to run away from death.

It's rumoured to be Sammy Wilson or Evil Daniel O'Donnell for leader. Both are crap, but it would be hilarious if Sammy Wilson was made leader. The guy is a buffoon. They kept him out of department meetings when he was Finance Minister because of how strawberry floating clueless he is.

Also the pictures in the paper of him at the nudist beach :dread:

I can't tell if the DUP are only Anti LGBTQ and Anti Abortion because Sinn Fein are pro gay rights and pro abortion. That wouldn't explain the racism tho I suppose...

Sammy Wilson would be an absolute sh*t show.

It's religious beliefs more than anything, but I would say that factors into it as well.
