The choice is "would you rather your child be dead?" :fp:

Thing is by 'choosing' not to vaccinate your child you're potentially impacting other children who can't have the vaccine for legitimate medical reasons. Those children depend on herd immunity from everyone around them being vaccinated.

There is absolutely no reason why vaccinations should not be legally required and enforced in children without valid medical exemptions.

It's extremely irresponsible parenting.

I'd go further and say it's actual child neglect/abuse.

It's absolutely child neglect, and should be treated as such.

A senior police officer has appealed for political progress in Northern Ireland after a bomb attack in County Fermanagh.

Police blamed dissident republicans for the explosion near Wattlebridge, close to the Irish border, on Monday.

PSNI Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Martin said it was a "reckless and indiscriminate" attempt to kill police officers.

Northern Ireland has been without a devolved government since January 2017.

Power sharing collapsed in a row between Sinn Féin and the DUP over a flawed green-energy scheme. Attempts to restore it have so far failed .

DCC Martin said police believe Monday's bomb attack may have been carried out by either the Continuity IRA or New IRA.

He said there have been five attempts to murder police officers so far this year.

You can't force parents to vaccinate but you can exclude unvaccinated children from school to prevent risk of cross infection. Not many people are going to take their kids of their school just to avoid vaccination so introducing a bill like that would probably get you the numbers you need.

Unvaccinated kids should just be vaccinated at their nursery/school. Don't ask the shitty parents. If the record shows they need a shot, literally just arrange for a nurse to come do it.

I think what he means is, if a parent absolutely will not allow their children to be vaccinated, you 'can't' physically force the parent to allow it (without essentially removing the child from their care).

Whereas as Meep says, most antivaxxers wouldn't support their stance to the extent that they'd remove their children from school. Other steps could be taken too, such as making parents who prevent their children from being vaccinated not being eligible for public funds

You can just do it automatically the second the kid is put in anyone else's care.

In those unimaginably rare cases where the parents hole up and decide to home-school or whatever, you can also just send a nurse to their house with a social worker. The choice would be "vaccination, or foster care?"

Vaccination isn't optional. We're running out of effective antibiotics so we will need to rely increasingly on herd immunity and other preventative effects to deal with diseases and maintain a healthy population into the future.

It's a bit like climate change, we really can't waste time wrapping the solutions in cotton wool to make them softer for the ignorant and stubborn.

Oddly earlier this year I went to the doctors about my eye and tetanus (check everything was up to date). I found out that as a youngster I had the individual M M R jabs so it's now recommended that you have the combined M M R even as an adult which I did.
As a side note I did have a tetanus booster aswell and my eye is fine .
