The EU Government have said that they want school children across the UK to sing a ‘We are Europe’ anthem as part of an event that will teach them about Europe's “shared values”.

They are encouraging schools across the EU to take part in a ‘One Europe One Nation’ day on June 25th which includes singing the song “We are Europe and we have one dream to unite all people in one Great Team”.

The lyrics include: “Our nation survived through many storms and many wars, We’ve opened our doors, and widened our shores, We celebrate our differences with love in our hearts, United forever, never apart.”

It ends with the repeating lines “Strong Europe, Great Europe”.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Channel 4 news daring to hold the government to account. :simper:

That being said, you can trust democracy and allow things to be slowly stripped away, or you can incite revolution and make sure they dont. America doesnt really have rights or equality for all, and I dont see this improving without action.

I bet if the british Hitler youth song was put to the three lions music, loads of people would love it.

Can we just pin that fascism checklist I posted to the top of every page? Saves me having to re-post it all the time.

As a whole no, but internally they face the same problems as Labour had in the UK. Progressives have been making gains within the Democratic party over the past 8 years or so and pushing agendas such as healthcare for all, unions, BLM etc.

To the surprise of no one, the Chinese Communist Party has killed freedom of the press in Hong Kong with the forced closure of Apple Daily.

In other unsurprising news, Hong Kong's first trial under the "National Security" law has begun without a Jury. No point having a Jury when the Chinese Communist Party tells the Judge what decision to make.

The loss of Apple Daily is a real tragedy. It's so hard to see a resolution to the current situation that works out well for the Hong Kong people.

This whole Strong Britain song thing has to be one of the cringiest ideas I have ever heard. It was cringey enough to sing hymns in school, but this is a whole new level.

I'm hard pushed now to work out who the most useless Cabinet member is. Every week they seem to want to one up each other with humiliating policy suggestions.

It's Gavin Williamson.

Yeah but it has given me an idea for a painting. Which I'll probably never get to do as I dont think I'll ever have the room to paint that large again. :(

I love the defence of the song is 'whats wrong with being patriotic?'

Its an interesting way to pronounce 'a strawberry floating weirdo'.

I don't understand patriotism and why it is still so taboo to dare whisper against it in 2021 for strawberry float's sake.

Nothing says fragile insecurity in the face of an empty and meaningless life louder than waving a flag and shouting how proud you are of something that you had strawberry float all to do with and claim association with merely by virtue of the absurd cosmic outcome of the location of your birth.

I watched PMQs today, Boris answered almost every question with some sort of comment about the vaccination program. The speaker does an awful job of make Ng him answer questions.

For those keeping track at home:

Johnson says any criticism of the government's track and trace program is criticism of the NHS but all praise for the NHS's vaccination program should go to the government.

Makes sense. At PMQs Boris refused to accept that the government's 25% cuts to the justice department which lead to a closure of half the courts in the country may have some link to the lack of prosecutions and backlog in the court. It was just the CPS's fault and labours fault for voting against the police and crime bill.
