I'm convinced it's an elaborate performance art piece.

I doubt it, I've seen him act and he's not good enough.

I've only seen him acting in the Frankenstein Chronicles, where he played a creepy entitled weirdo. It was a great performance.

Are you sure he was acting?

"It's called range you philistines"

He seems like the embodiment of the Monty Python working class playwright sketch but not funny.

Hopefully my view is being skewed by dirty propaganda but it really feels like we are so strawberry floated. All these 'red-blooded working class towns' that are swinging so heavily Tory in these local elections because they genuinely seem to believe the Tories are now the party of the working class... how the strawberry float has it come to this?

I keep seeing things like "Labour only represent you now if you're a transsexual black Muslim" and it really feels as though people can be utterly shat on in all aspects of their lives, but the most important thing to them is that underrepresented, minority subgroups of society are not granted any additional support whatsoever, so that they can be kept down below straight white people.

Nah, it's not dirty propaganda, we're absolutely strawberry floated for a long time :toot:

Gillian Duffy was the turning point. It became less acceptable to accuse someone of intolerance than to actually be intolerant. Hartlepool not interested in voting for a better outcome because their electorate no longer genuinely believes this is ever achievable; so instead they vote for the public figures who most closely align with their own beliefs and worldview.

We even have a Prime Minister now who is a well documented racist, homophobic, xenophobic and misogynistic piece of gooseberry fool.

I also keep seeing commentary that non-Tory voters are limited to metropolitan, middle class, champagne socialist, university-educated people who 'sneer' at 'ordinary' voters for being too stupid to understand what they're voting for and to be honest – with an obvious exaggeration of the terms understood – I can't help but feel a bit... 'seen' (is that the right term for the kids' slang these days, StayDead?).

Maybe I am the one in the deluded little box, totally out of touch with society at large. I've certainly been at the complete other end of every major political decision for at least a decade now.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Is that right? Do I just need to send an application to Denster for the GRcade Tories Club? ( :dread: )

For all his myriad of issues, Churchill at least led. He made difficult decisions without waiting until all options were exhausted like Johnson does. Johnson isn't even a pound shop Churchill.

Judging by his general state of attire he's more like the kind of Churchill you'd find behind a dumpster round the back of B&M Bargains

This continues to baffle me alongside those rust belt working class US citizens who thought a man with a gold lift somehow represented their best interests. The only thing I see is a widening of the gap between rich and poor and a bunch of people making a fortune syphoning money out of the public purse.

Well, my point is that they simply don't care about that. The top of their priorities is to ensure that non-cis/straight/white people are kept down. They'll vote for whichever party offers the best chance of doing that, regardless of what it means for anything else.

One of the great problems with modern liberalism is that there are indeed a lot of the type you're describing, and they're very visible on social media, which seems to be what directs the narrative these days. These people are seen as an elite class and so anything left of centre is by association seen as the ideology of the elites, and this drives those who would benefit from leftism toward the right.

Well to be fair, at least Johnson is just casually racist rather than genocidally racist
