Wasn't there one he did for a drug dealer that basically was a ad for the dealers drugs?

I saw a clip of Mark Francois talking in parliament recently about being vilified and abused and thought 'Have you tried not being a banana split Mark?'.

This feels like a question from Blankety Blank.

Ah so Francois coincidentally reemerges after rape and sexual assault charges were dropped from a sitting MP. Probably unrelated though. And I'm sure there was no basis for the allegations in the first place.

Funny thing is he had a eulogy about what David wasn't and it just looked like he was calling himself out for doing the gooseberry fool he said his mate wasn't. Francois is an awful human being.

Also I'm from Essex so I know full well Southend is a shithole, imagine knowing that your home became a city after decades of failed campaigns to do so just because the one person who gave a gooseberry fool got stabbed and died.

Laura Kuenssberg in talks to step down as BBC political editor

Laura Kuenssberg is in talks to step down as BBC political editor after six years and become a presenter on the Today programme as part of a major reshuffle of senior on-air staff, individuals with knowledge of the negotiations told the Guardian.

Although the deal has yet to be signed off and there is no confirmed timeframe, her departure would leave a vacancy in one of the most powerful positions in British journalism at a time when the government is still negotiating the future of the BBC licence fee and trying to shape its news agenda.

As part of the reshuffle of leading BBC journalists, Jon Sopel is stepping down as North America editor and returning to the UK. He is tipped to be replaced in Washington DC by Sarah Smith, the current BBC Scotland editor and occasional Today presenter.

Sopel’s return to the UK also means he is now a candidate to be the new BBC political editor, having been connected to the job back in 2015. At that time the job instead went to Kuenssberg, who became the first woman to hold the position of BBC political editor.

One BBC individual who is not moving jobs is Andrew Marr, who has been given a fresh contract to continue presenting his eponymous Sunday morning political interview show. Sources suggested part of the reason for this is his work producing BBC programmes that will be broadcast when the Queen dies.

I'll never forget that Francois clip where he threatened to send Dominic Cummings round to the head of Defence or something. He even puffed up like a frog. Even more hilarious now given how the Cummings saga is going!

Who was that horrendous Tory MP who went to the US to be a journalist or something? Bet she is first in line for BBC political editor.

Edit: Louise Ubermensch

Edit 2: Another hot fav, Georgie Osborne who has absolutely no links to the Conservative party.

Edit 3: Dave Cameron?

Sopel has written some good books (I think its him im thinking of), but so had Peston and he completely seemed to sell out.

I like Jon Sopel. He's very knowledgeable and is good at getting news across in a balanced way where he'll cut down the insane conspiracy theories (rife during his NA stint) in a clever enough way to avoid being called biased.

This is where someone highlights some insane gooseberry fool he's promulgated.

She will likely be working at Downing St in the future.

Has Preston really written any good books? I saw the cover of his latest one he was shilling on Twitter and it looked dreadful. I know they say never judge a book by its cover, but this is Peston we are talking about!

I'm surprised it hasn't happened earlier. There was a point during the 2019 election where she broke electoral reporting rules by reporting on postal votes before polls had closed, my journalism law lecturer at the time claimed that she'd heard from friends/sources at the BBC and elsewhere that Kuenssberg was in for some serious reprimands for it but nothing seemed to actually happen in the end.

Kuenssberg is awful. Her style alone is enough to put me off watching her reports, let alone everything else she's done. Going to the Today programme though? :dread:

Not a fan of Jon Sopel either though. He could never hide is contempt for Trump, and like him or not, you should at least attempt to be balanced in your reporting and not let your personal view colour your analysis and supposed reporting of the facts.

Sarah Smith is quite irritating as well. Probably a good thing I don't watch BBC News anymore, the egos of the presenters and their overall styles annoy me too much.

He’s literally the only person working for the BBC who sticks it to the daft bastards in charge of this sorry country.

Really? I find his interviewing approach to be much more of a cozy fireside chat style than anything else. Utterly toothless.

He's come in for some fair criticism over the years, but if you saw his recent interview with Johnson – I think it was right at the beginning of the Tory conference – he did just about all he could within the bounds of public broadcasting. I think 'useless twat' is unfair, all things considered.

I always enjoyed Sopel's coverage of Trump and I think you'd have to literally be an AI robot to have completely hidden any hint of your personal feelings at all times while trying to analyse that insane four years.
