I've got to say reading the Daily Sport headlines throughout the pandemic has been an absolute joy.

Surely London is the worst place to try that experiment. I honestly think that the Tory bigwigs don't realise how bad he actually is. Although my conspiratorial thoughts tend towards them wanting to tank in London so they can push the "London isn't like the rest of the country" narrative.

This Salmond/Sturgeon situation is getting fairly spicy with the release of the legal advice documents.

What's the predictions? Sturgeon to resign? Or survive?

It's a non story. BBC and Scottish Tories pushing it but it's a non starter. UK PM has lied multiple times, Matt Hancock has, Priti has, they all have. All she has to do is focus on Covid and it'll go away.

I still don't get what's happening. If it's helping anyone it seems like it's helping Scottish Labour as they're polling slightly better ATM.

Alex Salmond definitely assaulted some women, but Nicola Sturgeon knew for longer than she'll admit, so she's the one at fault

Theres about as much chance of Nicola Sturgeon resigning as Scotland winning the Euros.

She’s far too stubborn to resign. Very much sticks to her guns.

Not sure I'd put Sturgeon's chances of going at 90%

It’s not a non-story, she’s broken the ministerial code. If this were Ruth Davidson or another member of a party I don’t support, I would be quite vociferously calling for their head so it would be remiss not to here. She needs to go.

The whole thing is very confusing though, it seems like the issue with Sturgeon is that she knew about the allegations earlier than she should’ve, but when asked about it in parliament gave a knowingly false answer. Her backtracked excuse was “I’m the leader of a country, I get my dates mixed up because I’m very busy and important,” which is...not great really.

That's all true.

It's irritating to see Tories chasing this story though. They need to shut up until they sort out the liars at the top of their own party.

It's an interesting situation because I can see why Scottish independence voters would want her gone if she's broken the ministerial code as they want to hold their politicians to a higher standard than the scumbags at Westminster. But equally, there is a strong whiff of this being whipped up way beyond what it is by the Tories and the right wing press in a vain attempt to increase their support in the May elections and scupper the SNP as a whole because Sturgeon is obviously a real thorn in their side.

Sturgeon isn't going to resign. Tories have normalized riding out political scandals. She will just do the same if she has lied, which is pretty strawberry floating damning, but it's the political reality we live in.

What's really sad about this is the fact that an alleged sex offender hasn't been brought to justice despite a lot of people knowing he was allegedly a very hands on politician.

Must be horrible for the victims that the focus isn't on that and instead on trying to damage the only UK based leader who has done a good job of handling the pandemic and is polling exceptionally well.

It's almost as if...labour and conservatives have something to gain from her going. Yet when Matt Hancock is found to be in the wrong, the leader of the opposition says the public don't want him to call for his resignation.

It's almost a false equivalency to compare her tenability (if she has broken the ministerial code) against the tenability of senior Westminster Tories who have lied or otherwise fallen short of the expectations of public office, because the press in this country are looking for any way to vilify her and will put an obscene amount of pressure on her to resign if she has done anything remotely wrong. This does not happen if you're wearing a blue rosette.
