It is an absolute travesty. You shouldn't be allowed to do the complete opposite of what you pledge in your manifesto. I dont know how you could prevent that but the only mechanism being voting them out 5 years later isn't exactly a helpful one

I will be signicantly changing my eating habits. I am trying to think about reducing meat consumption positively but I am really quite gutted.

It really annoys me that the government are blatantly lying about the food standards stuff. If they didn't intend to lower food standards they would have just passed their amendment. This has been the plan all along and they've been lying about it, if they had come out before the election and stood on lowering food standards it would have been one thing, but they knew it would have damaged their chances so they lied.

That goes for pretty much everything.

This absolutely boils my piss, what the strawberry float are these people doing. Every single senior government source quote should be attached to a specific person. This isn't whistle blowing, there is no repercussion for this unnamed source. It's just pathetic tittle-tattle. The journalist in question should be embarrassed to even consider tweeting it.

I try and eat relatively little meat and fish at the moment anyway, but if they remove or change the food origin labelling requirements to any significant degree (i.e. to disguise where gooseberry fool food has come from) I'd switch things up to local farm produce or something.

It's just one thing after another with this government. It'd be laughable if it wasn't so utterly depressing. And you can't even put it down to incompetence. It's wilful disregard for the rules, one rule for them and another for the plebs, constant back-tracking on pledges and promises made, a staggering level of arrogance...the list goes on.

The thing is say what you want about Starmer he's clearly hasn't been as oppostunist on this a issue. He's spent weeks politely asking the government to get there gooseberry fool which they've contently thrown back in his face while the government bumble from one strawberry float up to the next.
