I didn't want to make a new topic about this so I thought I'd bung this question in here.

There are plans being drawn up for massive offshore solar farms and I have an odd question. Will these farms do anything to cool the seas around them (we're told they're heating up which is bad) due to the shade and will they provide habitats for fish?

The oceans are not heating due to solar radiation, but through absorbing heat from the atmosphere as it heats more and more.

As to habitats, who knows. Man made structures often attract animal lodgers.

The ocean is like a massive heat sink. It might absorb heat during the day but half the planet is always in night so it gets released again. However, if the atmosphere gets hotter that means there is less of a gradient for heat to diffuse across and the ocean warms over time.

So what I think what you're saying is we need a more efficient heat sink for the oceans?
Come on nerds where are you you strawberry floating love fiddling with heat sinks and gooseberry fool like that  .

Politicians claim solving the problem is hard yet you manage it with a single picture.

Well, even though he's been proven innocent, this is still going to hang over him for a very long time sadly.

Whichever angle you want to look at it, it's outrageous. An epic failure. If you believe this outcome is legitimate, the evidence that must have been so flimsy it defies belief.

It all comes down to "beyond reasonable doubt" though, right? A lot of cases like this struggle to prove something outright and end up failing even though it's pretty obvious that it's happened.

I find it difficult to believe so many people who knew and worked with him would make spurious claims. I suspect he is did most of it but there is insufficient evidence to find him guilty.

Whether he did it or not he's going to get Ben Fogle Syndrome. Big massive front pages when he gets sick, barely any coverage when he gets discharged. Pops up on telly and everyone thought he was supposed to be dead. This isn't a slight on the media's reporting of rape allegations in general, it's just that nobody really gives a gooseberry fool about Salmond's busy hands at the moment even if they really should.

I mean, even if it was exactly the same principle as Universal Basic Income and it did fully destroy the Roman republic in 123BC....it's pretty irrelevant to today's economies.

#ClapForCarers is obviously a nice moment and the people who went and clapped are well-meaning, I'm not having a go - I'm obviously very grateful to doctors and nurses myself! - but it's a shame this popular gesture, which is nice but ultimately only an aesthetic form of solidarity, doesn't translate into votes for parties who want to look after the NHS & carers better. :(
