Having lived in high knife crime areas, they're not really no go areas for outsiders. The people getting stabbed are mostly kids who live in the area because of gang violence. When I lived in Brixton I use to hear a load of stuff about a running gang war between school kids from Brixton and South Wimbledon.

I live on Atlantic Road in Brixton, which was the heart of the Brixton riots. It's proper gentrified there now, it use to be full of drug dealers when I lived there but I never felt threatened by anyone living there.
