There's talk about a vote next year. The Tories have been talking about running a better to together campaign to various people.

After the last few years, I'm sure the Scottish people will believe them.

"Better together" claims Johnson, as he coughs and splutters, rolling out his hormone fed meat and pesticide infused veg, before locking the door and drawing the blinds on our neighbours.

"Better together".

Yeah, the hypocrisy in that slogan makes me vomit.

Never ceases to amaze me how empty the left side is.

Shadow Finance Secretary resigning to vote against the Covert Human Intelligence Bill after Labour failed to move beyond abstaining to "amend it at a later reading".

EDIT - Oh he's that guy a couple of posts above. Wish he was my MP!

I've campaigned with Dan at the last two elections. He's a good lad. Coincidentally his seat is set to be lost in the boundary review. :simper:

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Isn't Starmer a humans rights lawyer it seems insane that he's only going to abstain over this bill.

It’ll stem from a combination of wanting to look tough on crime and terrorism (also why the Overseas Operations Bill was abstained) in a fruitless attempt to win over Tory voters, and wanting to further push out dissenting leftist voices from the forefront of the party.

It’s terrible leadership in all and reminiscent of the fence-sitting approach to several issues that marked Corbyn's ultimately fatal premiership.

It shouldn’t be this hard to pin down what a human rights lawyer's principles are!

He was the country's top prosecutor, of course he wants legislation to make the state's apparatus stronger.

I've been a fan of Starmer but I do agree.

I just don't get the argument that abstaining will help win over Tory voters because it's just fence sitting. Would a Tory voter really be won over by Labour abstaining more than voting against the bill? Surely they'll just feel a bit annoyed Labour didn't get behind "making Britain more secure" or whatever.

How many MPs have Labour lost over this now? It’s hard to find out because it doesn’t get reported on for some reason. I’m sure it was a big news only a few years ago but I must have remembered it wrongly.

Well, no-one's quit the party but at least two have quit roles in the Shadow Cabinet.

Patel is a literal monster.

Her comments do prove my point, by abstaining it doesn't make it any more difficult to attack Labour for not supporting the bill.

I know her politics are utterly vile but it's the strawberry floating smug look that permanently adorns her face that is the tipping point for me. She has exactly the same expression as a cat that's just gooseberry fool in your slippers.

Starmer’s a bit of a joke at this point, Captain Hindsight indeed, and now this.
I’m red as the day is long, but come 2024 there’s only going to be one winner.

I agree that he has been disappointing so far, but Captain Hindsight has to be the silliest insult I've ever heard.

'You should have told me I was about to strawberry float up!' I mean......what?

I think once people see the effects of Brexit they will flock to Labour TBH.
