It's a mix of that plus very selfish rich people that will go along with anything if it keeps their tax low.

I can understand (but not agree with) the tax banana splits. I will never understand the other twats.

There are way fewer rich banana splits, than actual banana splits though.

The right wing media have stirred up so much hatred and resentment at the wrong people for over 40 years, this is the result, a country full of banana splits. A cuntry if you will.

The rich banana splits have the money and influence to turn people into the actual banana splits by using the banana spliting media mentioned in your second paragraph.

What I don't get is why Scotland seems mostly immune from these banana splits? I totally get why they wouldn't vote Tory, but what stops Scotland being a right wing cunthole like England?

Labour just need to have some policies. Off the top of my head....

Temp checks outside each hotel, gym etc when they re open.

A three strikes warning to all busineses, police will check you be fined if you're not following social distancing inside and you'll be logged plus unable to claim any government support.

Clamping down on tax avoidance by big business, if you don't pay tax, you lose all ability to trade here.

Tighten laws on dis information and make it so that platform holders are able to lose license to run in the UK if they fail to uphold standards.

No child goes hungry.

Remove the free meals boxes, give vouchers and speak to local restaurants to feed children during lockdown.

Massive fines for waste, supermarkets chuck tons of stuff, stop them.

Remove tax for small businesses up X amount. Literally pay no tax until they are secure and a success. A generation of small businesses have been lost because of the pandemic, this could kick start re growth.

Regional centres of investment, work with unis and business and start to develop start up and ideas for the future of the UK.

Increase fines and imprisonment for animal cruelty.

No one with a criminal record can run for parliament.

Rewards via tax breaks for companies who helped out during pandemic.

NHS day, free bank holiday.

Take aways and cafes must display calories and fat/sugar content of all good sold/made.

All tenders for healthcare that are not won by the NHS must be explained, full published report stating why the NHS didn't win the tender.

Wish my image sig would work

There must be more to it than that. There are ways of being right wing that don't copy English Tories. Plus I'd imagine Scotland's political thought is a little more complex than "opposite of England!".

The question is that against an 80 seat majority and no election for 4 years, is there really any point in having policies? Anything that vaguely chimes with the public would just get nicked.

I have no idea, hence my jokey response.

Maybe they're just nicer people? There are far less of them (general population), which I am sure helps, as this will mean less banana splits.

Yes, otherwise Labour are hoping all political momentum towards them happens in the relatively short space of time that a general election takes up most of the news. They'd also have to hope that shift happens because enough people are crying out for anything other than the current Tory government without knowing what the alternative is actually calling for.

And as well as improving approval ratings/momentum you can still affect current government policy without being in power. See Farage, Corbyn and Rashford. That's the job of the opposition.

To be fair I'm sure there are plenty of banana splits north of the border. Scottish banana splits. The worst kinds of banana splits. ;)

I just saw that too and couldn't understand what he was doing. It's like he's reached a level of smugness where he relishes every opportunity to publicly revel in being a dastardly banana split.
