Boris Johnson's 'union adviser' quits after two weeks

Boris Johnson's main adviser on keeping the UK together has departed, saying his position was made "untenable" by others within Downing Street.

Oliver Lewis, an ally of the prime minister's former chief adviser, Dominic Cummings, was a key part of the campaign for the UK to leave the EU
.

He split, the union advisor split.

Wish my image sig would work

These people spend so much time fantasising about royalty that they get upset about stuff like this because it's like the canon deviating from their preferred fanfiction.

The aggression towards Harry and Meghan is amazing. The hatred is so pathetic and worrying. Just take a look at the DM stories and comments :dread:

Harry didn’t choose to be born into the royal family why should he live his life as essentially a back up plan to William?

I have learned almost everything I know about the current goings-on in the royal family against my will.

What confuses me even more about this is I’m pretty sure a lot of the people ranting about Harry would have been spitting feathers at the royal families treatment of Diana and ‘holding her hostage’ etc..

I guess you've missed all the stuff recently where they got laws changed to help hide their wealth.

The royals are the absolute least of this country's worries and are on the whole reasonably harmless in comparison to say, ooh, I dunno, the Tories.

The right-wing media are demonising MegHan (can't possibly think why????) in an attempt to deflect the failings of Bozo and 100,000 needless deaths.

It's a weird one the Harry/Meghan story. On the one hand, I've no issue with them wanting to leave the Royal family as an institution. I don't blame them as I imagine it's such a confined existence, it would be stifling.

But on the other hand, they should go the Tony Benn route and renounce all their titles if they want to just be private citizens. I guess being a Duke and Duchess opens certain doors for them commercially, which is why they have held onto them. I think they'd have gotten a better press up front if they renounced the titles back when they first decided to leave, but I suppose the Royal Family wanted to leave the door open for their return.

Otherwise, its an absolute non-story and if the press hate them so much, just stop reporting on them. But I guess commercial interests go both ways and the press know that it sells their rags.

I find it very hard to understand any personal criticism of either of them. We literally don't know anything about them as people, and some of the coverage of Meghan has undoubtedly been not so covertly racist.

They'll be divorced anyway within the next, ooooh, 5 years.

I don't think this is going to be a good decade for the royals anyway, tbh. Without THE QUEEN I think it all begins to fall apart.

I think the Queen has been really shortsighted here. I would have thought having Harry live in the States and officially represent the royal family over there would have been a great thing for the ‘institution’. It’s all strawberry floating pathetic and reeks of a mafia style institution where a family member dares to want to do something different and not join the ‘club’.

I also can’t help but think if Harry had married one of his previous hot young blonde girlfriends and wanted to move to Australia that they would have been fine with it.
