Willing to bet this is going to be another case of members getting it really wrong. Like Truss. But maybe not so immediate.

The membership is what will sink the likes of Tugendhat. They, and the wider right wing press, will also not accept anyone who might mirror Starmer's tactics and promise very right wing policies before moving toward somewhere near Cameron policy wise.

I really think they'll be a deal between the final two candidates to go with whoever has won most votes from their remaining MPs.

It seems utterly pointless for the Tories to go for a watered down version of Farage. They are not going to attract the Reform voters back and will only further alienate their remaining voters.

They either need to move (a long way) back towards the centre. Or just fully embrace fascism and merge with Reform.

But they are not very bright and will end up going down the diet Reform path, while looking confused as to why that appeals to nobody.

Honestly. How are we in such a broken country that banana splits like this actually feel they're being hard done by, and Newspapers can write about it, and rich idiots will sympathise with it. There should be a 2 home limit on everyone, labour won't do that, but jesus christ how can people not see how selfish they are? He deserves prison for taking advantage of so many people. not sympathy .

He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 July.

EDIT: this terrorist supporter has made the evidence gathering real easy for the police, his twitter page is filled with support for a proscribed organisation. :dread:

Results of a survey asking Tory party members who they'd like to be next leader:

• Kemi Badenoch: 31%;
• Suella Braverman: 16%;
• Tom Tugendhat: 15%;
• Jeremy Hunt: 12%;
• James Cleverly: 10%;
• Robert Jenrick: 7%;
• Priti Patel: 6%;
• Victoria Atkins: 2%.

I’m not surprised. This will be the first of many involved in the election campaigns for some of these independent candidates.

Choosing Kemi will hopefully help destroy the party.

On the face of it, it would look like a contest between Badenoch and Tugendhat. I guess it depends on the overall % of nut jobs in the party these days.

Badenoch will just claim that if you don't vote for her you're racist or misogynistic.

I'm waiting for the calls to bring Boris back as leader to start. Honestly I'm surprised they haven't started already.

I look forward to them competing against each other to prove who hates trans people the most :dread:.

How would a merge with Reform even work? I can't see Reform MPs simply agreeing to become Tory MPs.

They'd be the opposition, Farage would be leader and they'd get some nice shadow cabinet roles?

They'd definitely do it.
