She needs to survive long enough for us to get the Jubilee bank holidays.
Then we can have a week off for national mourning.
No bank holiday for her death, I checked this out already. We'll probably get one for the coronation though.
I just checked. There will be 10 days national mourning, but that won't be bank holidays. But we will get a day off for the funeral. And then, as you said, one for the coronation.
I bet the banana splits will have both the funeral and coronation on Saturdays though.
Employers don't need to give employees time off for the funeral, it's not a bank holiday.
Nobody really knows as it hasn't happened yet and the plans often change. But this was in the last leaked plans:
On the day of the funeral itself, the London Stock Exchange will close, as will most UK banks.
The day of the funeral and the subsequent coronation will also become national holidays.
Some fear that such measures will cost the British economy billions of pounds - however, it’s difficult to know what the financial repercussions will be ahead of time.
There's no way the government won't declare a bank holiday for the funeral. We saw how mental things got with Diana and Philip, the royalists would tear them to shreds if they don't give the Queen's funeral the "respect" of a proper national bank holiday.
Whether it is declared a BH or not, it depends on your contract whether you get the day or get it paid off or not. Statutory is only 28 days, which is the 8 BH and 20 annual leave days.
At my place, contracts give a total holiday amount for the year inclusive of any BHs, so I get the day but deducted from my annual entitlement.

Yeah that goes for any bank holiday. My brother is never allowed any of them (except Christmas Day) but he does get them added onto his annual leave.
Staff at work are getting told off because they can't force customers to be interested in the jubilee. They're being blamed for not trying hard enough (they are) and are being checked up on throughout their shifts
The day prince philip died i was at work luckily on a early all I remember was seeing the news on my phone and then our music changing to some depressing classic sombre music which made the last few hours of my shift boring but every shop I found out on here and by people I know all shops play depressing music

Where/what’s that?
The public library where I work. We have to encourage kids and their parents to do some arty stuff for the jubilee so we can display them around the library. No one is interested in doing it. The kids are happy to take the crayons and just draw but no one is interested in drawing anything for the jubilee or colouring in any of the jubilee colouring sheets we have. Obviously being the biggest library and being outperformed by the branch libraries means that staff aren't trying hard enough. Managers are phoning down to the children's library regularly for reports and going down at random to check on progress. If no one wants to do it what are they supposed to do, force them at gun point?

Pretty soon they'll be asking the staff to fake some kids' drawings.

What the flying strawberry float, this is absurd
When you say your library is being outperformed, just to confirm, that's being outperformed in the number of children's drawings of the Queen on the wall?

Has nobody amongst the staff stepped up and said you can't force people to be interested in something they're not? What the strawberry float?
