My understanding is that he doesn't post more often specifically because of dumb comments like this.

As if being "PC", which literally just means "not a bigot", is a bad thing. Christ!

Come on man, I miss Taf too but there is a middle ground between actively finding reasons to be offended and being a bigot.

This. I really liked Taf but theres clearly a middle ground that people are intentionally overlooking.

Anyone who complains about PC is generally a total knob but I think it's fair to say Taf took offence at many comments that the rest of us wouldn't.

I don't think there is anyone on this forum who could be classed as a bigot, but having said that, the vast majority of us are also nowhere near as politically correct as Taf was.

He was generally a nice member to talk to, but he did have quite the reputation for being ott when it came to social issues and the like.

I'd still like to see him return though.

I wouldn't use the word political correctness as that is often used as a derogatory term in the same way snow flake is. Stick to beta cuc or soy boy*.

I take issue with not agreeing with the issues Taf has with certain things does not make you a bigot (I realise this wasn't what Karl was saying).

*Don't do this.

I don't recall Taf having a particular penchant for taking offence, certainly not enough for it to be some sort of "defining characteristic" as some seem to be making out here?

Also the times when I did witness him take offence at something it was invariably a situation where taking offence was an appropriate response.

It covers the broad spectrum of stuff like woodwork, metalwork etc. all combined into one fun filled class. In hindsight I should probably have taken cookery.

As far as I was aware Technology GCSE has a number of different "flavours" so to speak. You can do resistant materials (so basically woodwork), electronics, textiles, and I think food technology. My (all boys) school only had woodwork labs so resistant materials it was for us!

I'd say my prized possession is an engraved Tiffany & Co Swiss army knife my wife gave me for my 30th from our trip to New York. The regular Victorinox I'd had on my keyring for about fifteen years was showing its age, so it was a really special but also useful gift. It has got a bit scuffed etc over the years because it's in my pocket but it was bought to be used.

When I was a kid I'd never use colouring books or sticker books (sticker albums excepted) because I didn't want to not have the stickers anymore or not be able to colour the page again. But then what was the point of having the nice thing if you're not going to use it?

I may be wrong about this but lots of Tiffany items have lifetime guarantees so you may be able to get it repaired and cleaned from one of the UK stores if you ever feel the need to.

I will bear that in mind, cheers!

We had to pick a "Tech" GCSE back in the day and our options were limited because the school was gooseberry fool so I couldn't do the subject which actually interested me which was Graphics and so the only palatable option was cookery, or "Food Technology" as they optimistically called it!

It was actually quite enjoyable and I got an A in the end for basically cooking a lasagne so I can't really complain!

There you go, knew I'd got one of them wrong. It depends so much on what you have in your school, both in terms of kit and staff. If none of your teachers can draw, sew, cook or solder, you aren't doing most of those subjects!

When I was doing biology A-Level almost everyone in our class wanted to be a doctor, dentist, or other healthcare professional. Nobody wanted to be a botanist, but the college had the ecology textbooks so that was what we did as the option, and off we strawberry floated to Slapton Lea to throw plastic squares about! Be pointless learning about bacteria and viruses anyway, never gonna use that in real life...

I had to do a creative, chose Graphic Design. The amount of time it took to do, I probably could have done an extra 2 standard GCSEs.

My post precious possession is my plush monkey from my childhood (and his friends). He's currently at my parent's house as I refuse to have him in my rented accommodation.

In my current house it's my Tupperware box of football & other sports tickets I've been to.

Honestly don't really have one. I always found it weird that people have emotional attachments to objects. I suppose my PC is the biggest extravagance I have but losing it would mainly upset me because of all the trouble of buying/building a new one.

My most prized possession would be some one of a kind Carpenters plans from StarWars The Phantom Menance. The carpenter was orderd to burn them after the film was done but he instead gave them to me, he gave them me because I had lent his brother a tin of Megadrive Carts, it was about 40 carts in a biscuit tin I wasnt much of one for letting people have my stuff but his mum and dad were very close friends to my mum and dad and he had basically become a drug addict and sold them so this was his brothers way of trying to make it up to me.

I have the plans hidden in my dads attic, I didnt talk about having them for years as I didnt want to in anyway get the carpenter in trouble. I did want to get the plans out of the tatty roll there in and put them behind glass frames now plenty of time has passed but obviously Coronovirus has ruined that as there at my dads and I am not.

If I had to pick one, it would be this Charizard - I discovered it in my parent's attic a few years ago, more or less totally unprotected, because when I got it as a kid I didn't really know how significant it was or anything. Basically in 2002 they reprinted the original set of cards and introduced these reverse holofoils for the first time ever, so this is like... one of the rarest and most desirable Charizard cards that exists. Last time I checked this condition on eBay it had sold for £350 but if it was marginally better (there are some scratches and light marks to it, a consequence of me being a young kid when I first owned it) you could multiply that by 10 easily.

Back in the day, my then penpal sent me an issue of Corocoro comics, and it was included as a free gift.
