The reaction time between pressing a button on the controller to the action being carried out on the pitch seemed way off. It may have been because it was online, but it just made the whole experience very frustrating. Played 4 games and it seemed to happen in all of them.
Have other people found this? Were the last PES games similar?
I concur, BTB. I do realise there will be a period of adjustment (and I may come to love it yet), but on first impression I have to say I too was underwhelmed after all the hype.
This plays very differently to last years edition (which I highly recommend you try BTB!) While some changes I generally agree with, in the whole it just feels less responsive and I felt less in control.
Here's a list of main things I spotted:
* crosses are much harder to get on someone's head, regularly flying past everyone. Which is pretty fair as crossing was op in 2017.
* defending; holding down x to close down doesn't work as well and there's a big delay when slide tackling from the button press. Also, I found that the change player didn't seem to work as well as prev. Continuously picking players not close enough to get a tackle in.
* more of a concentration on passing and dribbling. Dribbling seemed a lot easier, players weaving in and out of tackles. Maybe too op.
* no arrows on free kicks, so didn't have much of a clue where the ball was going to head. This will prob just take practice.
* players have more momentum so take longer to react to button presses. In general, less feeling of control, due to delay from pressing buttons and action being carried out. Case in point, I crossed in for mbappe to score into an open net and pressed the shoot button on time, yet it didn't register.
* more stray passes, not same accuracy as 2017. Can't ping about pitch just as easy (see delay above)
* like 2017 I still had connection issues. Only pes *sigh*. I suppose some of the issues I experienced above could have been because of this. However, I get the feeling not, as 2017 was always more responsive despite this.
My opinion will prob change if I get to play it more, but on first impression I'd be happy just sticking with 2017.
