Some of the dialogue is hilariously bad - I'm hoping that some of the ways the characters talk is a specific dialect for her village as I don't think I can put up with that for the whole game!

Combat seems a bit easy and basic so far but hopefully that will improve as the game expands. Other than that I'm really enjoying myself!

I did the same and had exactly the same reaction. I had to google online to make sure it was just that character :slol:

Glad it wasn't just me then!

I've paused on the demo for this now, I know it's good enough that I want to buy the full game but I need to clear some more of my backlog before I dive in fully!

quite interesting to see all the connections there actually are like the diary trissa has belonged to the man who saved alfyn as a child and a lot of stuff connected to a dark god though i have heard there is one last secret dungeon which al that is leading to

edit: and now ive finished all 8 of them

The game is back in stock at Amazon, if anyone's wanting to get physical copy.

Ordered it, hopefully it'll arrive on Saturday so I can treat myself a good session over day offs

Oh boy, that final boss of the game's story. I was not expecting that after what came before it and got curbstomped. Got a little bit huge and came back. Turned out I still wasn't expecting it and while it wasn't a curbstomping, it was really bumpy. But a loss is a loss.

And that's not even talking about the ones afterwards.

I think this might be the part where I put it on ice it for a while and dedicate a bit of time to grinding big huge at some point in the future. Right now I'm just exhausted, and Yakuza came out, so...

Whee, I’ve started this! Everybody's story apart from Therion and Primrose looked a bit soppy, so Therion it was!

Also: Japanese voice acting. Because dear God...

I thought the acting was pretty decent. Except H'aanit, but she did what she could with her script.

And Therion is a good pick as main character because as soon as I found there were chests only he could open he was essentially locked into my party anyway. So at least that opens your options.

I picked the merchant girl as first character, without realising that I'd unable to swap her out but I didn't mind as she's damn useful, and I find that bows in this game are pretty strong.

I've got all but one character's, will get him tomorrow -- I think I'll do each chapter. Really enjoying the game, and it looks damn beautiful

I'm really not feeling this at the moment after doing 4 of the chapter 1's. There seems such a huge disparity between boss combat and every other encounter. Also, the locations look nice but feel soulless. I'll plod on some more but all the art style is doing at the moment is making me want to play FFT or Tactics Ogre.

Oh wow, this thread is active! Which is good because it’s pretty much all I’m playing at the moment. I’m 6/8 for Chapter 2s.

To be honest I feel much of what Rex is saying, especially about the early days. The stories feel trite (apart from Primrose’s), the dungeons are average, and it is all very pretty. The plots do pick up strongly from Chapters 2 onwards though (apart from Ophelia, she remains rubbish), and there remains something compulsive about tweaking your characters’ builds.

Cyrus best boy, Primrose best girl. Therion and (surprisingly) Alfyn are also coming good.

I've not even loaded this up in ages, only got about 7 hours in before going back to other games :fp:

Kind of tempted to start again, not with Haanit this time though as I've read that while Linde is good at the start later on she's a lot less useful as she doesn't level up and you can't switch out your starting character.

You can once you've beaten their fourth chapter.

Still a while to go for myself then  but good to know anyway, is there any reason why you can't switch them out or is it just one of those things?

No idea, just one of those curious design decisions.

I presume it’s meant to encourage attachment to your chosen main, which is hard if your chosen main is shite.

Could be worse, of course: you could have opted for Ophelia.

I think if I do start again I'll opt for Therion, his thief ability is pretty good for getting decent items.

I'm still holding off on buying this until I've cleared some more of my backlog but I don't think I'll be carrying on my save from the prologue demo. I choose H'annit as my starting character and I don't think I can deal with that dialogue being front and centre for so long!

As a Therion main I can recommend him. SP Steal + SP Share = good support. Also he gets some of the better travel banter, being the resident snarky bastard.
