Do it in Spark. It'll be amazing.

Looks like it might actually be possible with this!

The dream is a Gorkamorka open world RTS/RPG (or whatever genre it'd need to be for vehicular, melee and shooty combat, base building, lots of looting and team management) on a scale similar to Fallout, GTA V or even Just Cause, but I still think that, at least on a limited scale, something like it should be possible here.

Never look past that negative spin mate.

Great that it's free for all, very much looking forward to this.

I'm sceptical that this is being offered for free. I hope that a lot of content isn't hidden behind a paywall. If it is, I'd rather they just sell the game at retail/online.

Project Spark developer Team Dakota has shown off an extended look at Microsoft's in-development world-creation game.

The team live-streamed over 40 minutes of live gameplay over Twitch.TV last night
, showing off Project Spark's powerful level design and NPC AI tools.

First up is a look at how easy it is to build a generic fantasy environment to explore - including exploding goblin enemies.

Fast forward to around 35 minutes and the team will guide you through the game's Limbo-esque monochrome level spotted during the game's unveiling at E3.

Project Spark will arrive alongside Xbox One at launch as a free-to-play digital download.

The version shown below is the Windows 8 PC build (albeit with a Xbox controller). A 360 version is also in the works.

I was wondering how long it was going to take a big publisher to just outright jack the concept of Minecraft and tie it to a budget.

Interested by this. The problem I found with LBP was that it just wasn't easy enough (control-wise) to invest enough time into it. I speak purely for myself of course, as I've seen what people with better skills than myself can do.

And just like how mostly everything in LBP was a platformer I just hope with this game not everything looks like a generic fantasy.

Now, let me at it so I can make a Rare-esq FPS.

Project Spark Community Montage -

At gamescom, Team Dakota showcased several innovative features for future “Project Spark” creators through the reveal of the “Project Spark” voice and motion capture, which uses the power of Kinect to bring you into the game like never before. Players can capture facial animations, body motion and voice and sound to create custom character animations, dialog or even cinematic cut scenes.

Express yourself with facial capture technology and record dramatic scenes, make your own attacks, and much more. In addition, you can record your own sayings or sounds using the Kinect microphone, bringing the audial customization of your living world to an all new level of fun.

Voice and motion capture enables:

•Facial Expression Capture – Users can record their face and have it applied to an in-game character

•Animation Recording – Do a new attack, full body motions, gestures, etc.

•Record audio and modulate – Speak a line, singing, etc. Modulate the sounds in a variety of ways

The result is being able to make your own animations or even cinematic cut scenes when you combine all three (face + body + voice).

Team Dakota also announced the official beta launch dates for “Project Spark” – invitations will begin rolling out to registered beta participants starting at the end of October 2013 for Windows 8 devices and January 2014 for Xbox One creators. Players can register for the beta at www.joinprojectspark.com

That new trailer is immense. I'll never make anything worthwhile myself but I'm looking forward to seeing and playing what other people come up with.

A single play space is up to 5km x 5km and they've added level linking to combine levels.

Very impressed with this. Why do people think it's a bad thing that it's on more than one platform? So what if it isn't XBO exclusive, gives me a chance to make some games on PC with a mouse and then share with friends on 360 and XBO.

Really liking this, especially after wasted potential with Kodu.
